Exhibits are interesting but lighting is poor and many explanations are missing. Interactive exhibits often do not work. Student guides on weekends are available. The top floor is focused on the donated collection of a noted scientist. In all, this museum gives you a basic overview of the geologic riches in this province and the expertise of university scientists.

The museum itself is not very big, in comparison for example to the Hubei Provincial Museum, but it's tightly packed, and makes for a good couple of hours of education and fun. My six year old loved the dinosaur fossils, and reconstructed skeletons, and was surprisingly interested in the various types of minerals. I did wish there were a few... More

It is an amazing place and a must visit for anyone with any interest in natural history, gems and crystals. Although it has an entrance fee of 40 yuan which makes it a bit expensive. Ticket price is 20 yuan for students and for some reason it was free today.
