We visited this museum on a rainy Yichang day. It contains various exhibits about sturgeon in general and Yangtze sturgeon in particular. I enjoyed the presentations and learned about the Yangtze fishery. I was alone, enjoy fishing and was very pleased that my wife was not with me as she would have found the presentation somewhat boring. One only needs... More

This visit was not part of our organised agenda. We were waiting for a plane to fly to Beijing. I don't which to deter those who are interested in learning about these fish, but it wasn't of much interest to me.

We did this tour as we had time to spare in Yichang. Having done the sturgeon park in Washington State, this is a poor second. All the live sturgeon on show were kept in a really small pond or tank.

They have you watch a ten minute film then walk around. All in all, good for about 30 minutes. This museum is a great example of Chinese government paranoia.... More

Yichang's most interesting and unusual tourist attractions is the Chinese Sturgeon Museum. Set up by the Chinese Sturgeon Research Institute. The goal is to protect and preserve some of these rare species of fish. The museum not only showcases Chinese fish but also fish from Russia. The system of farming Sturgeon, preserving the ovaries, variety of fish from all corners... More

Destiny brought my friend and I to the Chinese Sturgeon Park. What began as a navigational error soon developed into an unforgettable experience. The shady stroll lead us to the cool green room with the most sturgeon I have every had the pleasure of sharing company with, both living and lovingly preserved. Continuing through tiled corridors, every step filled our... More
