Changchun City is the Detriot of China. It has over 8 million inhabitants . A manufacturing hub for cars and transportation vehicles .
Besides economics , it has modern history too .Changchun was the capital of Manchukuo in 1936. A colony of Empire of the Sun.There are distinct features of building designs , architecture and city planning from Japanese colonial era..They are the Imperial Palace of last emperor Puyi and the Eight Ministries Building and the Court House.
We only viewed the Eight Ministries Building from outside.Instead , we headed back to the Shangri-la Changchun.

Basically there are some beautiful buildings there (reminds more of chinese style than western), but you cannot go it to take photos.
You will just take photos from the street (passing by) and that is it.
Not a place to visit.

7 Aug 2016, drove by here with a taxi, it was simply an old styled building with different patterns on the rooftops and the pagoda, can imagine in the winter, it will be covered in snow) Here you can also see the TV tower of Jilin! Very similar to the one in Beijing.

"Toured" this attraction on bus, so didn't go into any of the 'departments'. They are just buildings that were used about 100 years ago during the Japanese occupation of Northeastern China. The architecture is interesting though, if your bus is slow enough to let you see it clearly. The main point of interest is the big square, I forgot, which I think housed the Japanese interim government. Alas, it was renovating when I went in Jan 2015, so really didn't enter any of the buildings to give a thorough review.

You do not have chance to really tour inside it as it is now belong to the Jilin university and its hospital. Take a ten minutes to just walk by is probably what you can do. So, do it when you really have spare time, you can also walk to the culture park which is just near by

The eight departments of the Manchurian government were built to house the administration of the government during the period 1931-45. The buildings are large and of a Chinese style. They are all still working buildings, government departments, hospitals and such like, so they are not places to visit, rather places to see to increase the understanding of this period of Chinese history.
