Okay, it's not the Alps or the Rockies or the Himilayas but Dahieshan, or Big Black Mountain, or Big Monk Mountain is the biggest and best in Dalian, China, and I love hiking up there. The taxi ride from Kaifaqu Station to the huge hill is fascinating, especially if you go to the temples on the other side of the... More

The view in this mountain is amazing. If you want to go to the top you will walk a little. The distance from the bottom to the top is almost 6 km.To see all the temples you need to find them because they are inside of forest.Days without clouds in sky are best days to visit.I liked a lot of this... Took a cab from Shangrila-la hotel intending to go to light rail station to get off to the nearest station to black mountain. But on negotiation with the cab driver, the fare was Rmb 100 to the entrance at the foot of the mountain. To me the fare was reasonable considering the time saved. Entrance was Rmb 20 per person.... Not also a challenge but climbed the black Mountain provide me av great view of Dalian. Safe and we'll done road. Negative point for the lack of structure for exemplo to buy food and water. Besides the road many plum and fruits plantation, so you can enjoy a fresh fruit direct sold by the producer! Very good

Grand Black Mountain of Dalian, also known as Daheshan, has dozens of trails with thousands of stone steps leading up to Taoist and Buddhist temples, old and new. I've visited this mountain area two dozen times, in all seasons, and I've taken thousands of photos because it is ridiculously beautiful. The best trail links several temples with a stone fortress... Great view of the mountain, the temples in the top of the hill are awesome! Be prepared to climb 1300 steps! Worth the visit. Be sure to schedule a transport to go back to city, there are no taxis in the area. Entrance is 20 rmb

The Big Black Mountain Scenic Area covers several attractions and quite a large area. One of the temples "XiangShui" I covered in a seperate review. This one is for another temple in the area called GuanYinGe. I drove there and found it quite easily, A search of "Guan Yin Ge" on google maps and Baidu brings up the location and... More

We have been visited Da Hei Shan Scenic Area 2 times, the first is in the winter to see the temples, and the second is in the spring to hike to the top of mountain. Overall, it is a good place if you like to walk and hike.
