If it is your first time int China you will probably love to see this big statue, but if you are in China for a long time it's not incredible anymore, just one more statue, Mao Zedong once again....Personally is ok to take a look but didn't spend much time looking at it.

The only other Mao Statue of this size is in Xinjiang's Kashgar. Set right in the middle of Chengdu, this monument may be among the last remnants of a period when Mao was essentially worshipped with near divine status...until his physician wrote a tell all book & promptly died.

Interesting to walk around the statue and take photos with Mao front and back. As it is located at Tianfu Square train station ((Subway Line 1 and 2), we included some shopping at Tianfu Square and a visit to the Library.

The statue stands above Tianfu Square (just above Tianfu Square Train station) A great spot for some beautiful grand shots of the city.

If you haven't seen a Mao statue before, it will be fun to take a picture. However, if you've been anywhere else in China, you've likely become pretty familiar with Mao. You'll likely see this anyway since it's in Tianfu Square.

Had read about this in the guide books , so decided to walk back to the hotel via Tian fu square to see it .Slightly disappointing , thought it would be more imposing . The square its self was lively a nice green space in the centre of the city

Hello Globetrotters, The Tianfu Square in Chengdu itself is a must see attraction with its huge green open space and the CBD buildings aiming for the sky. But if you like water fountains, it is right there and what a good size it is. It plays in about 20 minutes intervals , great photo opportunity. The highlight of this fountain... More

We were out just walking round Chengdu and we stumbled across this statue of Mao. Don't get me wrong, it's a very impressive statue and to have your picture with it is a must...but at the end of the day, it is just a statue.

Mao statue is overlooking the Tianfu square and looks quite good. Seems to be well protected by police (present around in large number).

This is the statue of Chairman Mao that you will find in almost every city in China. His everlooming presence is found here in front of the Science Museum in Chengdu, at a very busy intersection in the heart of the city.
