Grand Bazar Spent about two hours in the area, and found the shopping initially interesting but it quickly became repetitive. Therefore I went on to explore the nearby street shops and gained a fair experience of what locals eat for food and shop for in...More

This is a really nice place for visiting. You can find really special and different products, at reasonable price. I have visit during a Friday afternoon and it wasn't crowded - just a very nice experience !

Was with a tour group and Urumqi International Bazaar was our first stop. One of the best unique bazaar in silk road where one can find lotsa good souvenirs and interesting products native to the Uyghurs. Its quite a big Bazaar but one can easily...More

This is both local and international shopping centre. Certain things are very pricey for a tourist especially if you don't speak either mandarin or Uyghur. No English speakers in any shops. However, Russian speakers are easier to find. The place is huge and easy to...More

Several Malls adjacent to one another. Part of the thrill is in the haggling. Except that they do not speak any languages other than local Urumqi language and mandating. It is pale when compared to the bazaar in Istanbul. The open space/square has some local...More

This is a totally skippable tourist attraction selling mediocre souvenirs and overpriced dry fruits. Combine it with some other activity in the area and budget 15 minutes to walk through it.

These are modern shops. However, there is not much to see in Urumchi, so it worth coming over to see.

In all honesty I was expecting a vibrant bazaar. i was expecting to go back into time... But it was not like that. I was there late on a Sunday afternoon. It was a market that was just trying to survive. Many of the stalls/shops...More

Some very nice teas and handicrafts offered at reasonable price (after bargaining) . Oriental style of the house. Tourists from central asia buy lots of scarfs and stones. Very interesting souvenirs carved on site. Lovely people with a great sense of selling.

I am sure I recalled seeing them, but i doubt they were good quality. Not in the Bazaar area anyway. There is a more affluent part to Urumqi... Maybe better quality there.
