Cartagena 2015

This is a basic beach. Nice and relaxing. The food is average to say the least. It is less crowded than some of the other beaches within the city limits.

We visited Manzanillo following the advice of a local who took us to an specific hut by taxi. We were over charged and not treated nicely, the local who took us there lied to us from the beginning. There were other locals in this area who where constatly looking at us, making it very uncomfortable and made us leave. We... More

If you are going to visit Manzanillo then you must view it with the eyes of a local. It is not a sad place. The village was purchased in the 1950's by 11 Afro Colombians and they brought their families to live here. There were no deeds or titles and the families occupied the land as they needed it. Life... We went there after visiting the mud volcano with tour operator. Lunch was very good, typical, for costenos.... fried fish, platanos, coconut rise... beach, nice, relaxing though due to dark sand looks like dirty. Same with water. No complains...

The place is nice, but it is far from the city center. It is fine if you have your own transportation because taxis charge too much to take you the historic district and back.

We were taken here for lunch by a tour operator on the way back from the mud volcano. I'm not sure why. While the beach is pretty, the drive into this area is sad as this area looks quite depressed.

We were in Manzanillo del Mar in January of 2012. We walked along the beach and found the sand dark grey and the water very dark. Nice to walk along the beach though., because the water of the ocean is nice and warm. The beach has many debris on it. As far as the village goes we didn't venture inside... More

Tiny village- we had lunch on a private beach, but the town is quite sad and impoverished.
