We hired Duran Duran tours and he did a great job. Made the history come alive. Gave a professional perspective of the history of the area. Very interesting, answered our questions. Very fun tour. Not very much information provided at the fort. Glad we had...More

Entrance fee (July 2017) is 21.000 COP for foreigners (for students it's 10.500 COP). My visit was without audio guide or guide. Nonetheless it was interesting, more because of the views and the accessible tunnels, than the given information, since there are none. You can...More

Francis Drake and Pirate Morgan tried in vain to penetrate Cartagena at the San Felipe Castle Fort, but one can take in the spectacular view, learn about defence strategies used in the 18th century and before, and let your imagination recreate Hollywoodesque scenes where pirates...More

Just a heads-up that you will be swarmed by vendors selling hats, sun glasses, jewelry, ice cream, water and just about everything else that you can image before you buy your ticket to walk up into the fort. Once you get through the gates the...More

The castle is ugly from the outside, but the views from up there are worth the trip. The tunnels were flooded when we went, and the lack of any signs made it frustrating to get in there.

The fort was really impressive, we booked a tour & it's worth it. The views are nice & the history very interesting. Currently some parts are undergoing construction, so we weren't able to visit part of the tunnel system. Bring water, hat & sunscreen, avoid...More

Interesting tour; guide spoke English well, so I could understand it all. Interesting to learn the history of the castle and the city.

An amazing Castle so much to see. The views from here were fantastic . There are a couple of gift shops up the top. You need to be able to walk up steep paths and a few stairs to get to the top.

Well worth a visit - tickets cost $25,000 Colombian pesos (USD 8.25) for adults and you can see the whole Fort in around an hour. You also get a small map at the entrance in English which explains the main history of the Fort -...More

Definitely worth a visit, not just to have the great view over Cartagena. You probably should do it on a day that's not extremely hot or take care of your sun proctection because up there it feels like you're melting. I would still definitely recommend...More

Since your only there a day, I would not bother with changing money, but know your exchange rate and all is good with US $. Make sure you bring plenty of smaller change, 1, 5, 10, 20. No big bills. ATM and credit cards... More

It will depend on the kind of disability. If you can walk up hill slowly, you will get to the most interesting site, with good views of the city. You will probably miss the tunnels, which are not so great anyway. The view... More
