I had one mission. To find an authentic Colombian blouse. After popping into about 10 shops I finally found a shop with handmade clothing, made by the owner. They helped me find one in my size and colors which looks stunning on me. It was $15 US, a bargain. Most of the wares I saw were made in India.... It... More

My husband and I were disappointed by our visit to Las Bovedas, a touristy mall of knick knack shops housed in an old prison. While there is much to love about Cartagena, Las Bovedas exemplifies its worst aspects. There is stall after stall of the same tourist items you can find at lower cost at the souvenir shops in town,... More

With a little imagination you can take some pretty interestign photos (especially if the traditional-dressed ladys are there selling fruit). Other than that, the handicraft is more or less the same in every one of the shops at Las Bovedas, so if you see one you have seen them all.

these stalls were used for all kinds of things and at one time housed 23 dungeons. this is the section with the thickest outer walls and the stalls also were used as warehouses for ammunition and supplies at one time, too. it would've been nice if they'd kept one as an homage to days past but commercialism wins out. all... Very interesting history of how they were built and used in colonial times to store munitions. Now it is a series of handicraft stores geared towards tourists. Some nice stuff and worth a visit to pick up some presents to take back to NYC.

This place resembles a european style architecture and is a good place to buy souvenirs off all kinds. I really do not know if the other reviewers are correct by saying this is the cheapest place to buy souvenirs because the prices vary all over the city and it depends on the particular vendor, as well.

This is the best place to buy souvenirs and the prices are really competitive. I highly recommend this place to buy local handcrafts

Very interesting place - different stalls selling wares. It is your typical place to get souvenirs. Full of tours from the cruise lines.

We found that many of the shops seemed to sell the same items you find on the streets, and I questioned whether these items are really made by local "artisans" and not mass produced somewhere. The bovedas are worth a stroll, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit them.

We went looking for great deals and found it was more expensive than stores in the walled city or the vendors on the street. I wouldn't suggest it.
