It was easy to get here from the terminal Norte, Medellin. We took Transoriente bus and specificly told the driver that we wanted to be dropped off at Rio Claro. The ride itself was about 4 hours and we paid about 8 USD per person....More

Rio Claro is a legitimate 3.5 hour drive from MDE. The road is OK but very winding and laced with fast and sometimes slow semi-truck traffic. It is not a relaxing drive. Awesome rafting with 5y/o son, Jorge the raft captain was a gentleman and...More

This is a great place for birds, if you can put up with the accommodations. Our birding tour spent two nights here. The bird list is substantial, including many endemic species, and there is currently an active Oilbird cave. As the restaurant is open on...More

I am flying into Medellin airport and trying to get to Rio Claro. The Rio Claro staff said there was a shuttle from El Poblado, but that is an hour taxi ride from the airport to El Poblado, and then it's another 3 hours going back in the direction of the airport to Rio Claro. I'm considering Uber from the airport. Has anybody done this? Or how do you hire drivers from the airport?

It's quite a long distance between the two destinations, I choose a private tour company and it was wonderful as I did the river and cave tour

I understand it is a ~1 km walk to the hotel from the road. Is it paved? Will my rolling suitcase work, or will I need a backpack?

Do all rooms have mosquito nets? From reading the reviews, one person mentioned they did, while another said they had bugs landing on them while in bed so I assume they didn't. Any info appreciated.
