The planetarium is located very close to The Universidad de Antioquia, Parque Explora, Jardin Botanico and Parque Norte, where all kind of people converges: families, students, proffesionals, researches, streets sellers, etc. The Planetarium Buildings has a big square where is common find special shows and cultural events.

I went to El Planetario the same day I went to Parque Explora. I purchased the Combo Explora ticket that allowed access to both museums. Parque Explora was definitely worth the price of admission and I would recommend going. El Planetario, while nice, would not be worth a stand-alone ticket price. If you don't plan on going to Parque Explora, then you can skip El Planetario.

This place is good to bring children. We watched a movie in the dome for about 30 min. This place is small you can do it in about 1 hour.

Through the planetarium shows, it is possible to link history, geography and the celestial bodies. Comfortable seating and well narrated!

I didn't actually go into the Planetario, but I explored the neighbourhood it stands in as it contains a lot of very modern and interesting buildings. The science/exploratorium park is across the street and both are worth checking out for views of modern Medellin. The botanic gardens are also here and are free to visit, plus the metro station Universidad offers great photo ops from the platforms.

My family and I visited the planetarium (after visiting the Botanical Gardens just across the street) and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it (12 and 10 years old).

The exhibits are in both Spanish and English and they also have workshops (around 50 minutes) which my kids loved (in Spanish).

You can check online the schedule of movies they are showing each hour as they have 4 to 5 on the go. Get there early to buy the tickets for the show that you want and if you have to wait then you can always spend and hour at the gardens in the meantime.

If in Medellin with kids then I highly recommend a visit (and the gardens which have no entrance fee)
