The highest point on the island (about 360 meters above sea level) The hike is not that difficult. It takes about 3 hours or less depending on how fit you are. My advice: Begin the hike early in the morning because as the sun rises, so will the temperatures. I started at 6:30 am and I got back to the... More

An amazing 360 view of all Providencia and Santa Catalina. Still worth it on rainy days. Try to enjoy not only the peak but also all the way to it. You can go without a guide but it is better to do it with people from there. I recommend Eusebio (310-274-7548, usuarioeusebia.guia@gmail.com) he is very friendly and hardworking. Tips: go... More

Walked up the well-marked trail from Bottom House, it is about 3km one-way and not too difficult. Hiked down via a jungle trail to Freshwater Bay, only recommend this trail for dedicated hikers, it's very steep and easy to get lost.

As others have indicated, it took us about 90 minutes to ascend and 60 minutes to descend. You need to be in decent physical shape to do the hike, that said, there's nothing particularly difficult about the hike, it's just very energy intensive and the heat and humidity can be intense. To avoid the hottest part of the day, you... More

The peak is the tallest mountain in the island of Providencia. The hike is about 14k (with return), and getting up will take you around 90 minutes or less if you are in good physical condition. It is a challenging walk, and the rocks can be slippery. Bring your hiking shoes/sandals. It is also quite warm and humid, so be... More

Yes, it's not necessary to go with a guide. Other than a little bit at the bottom, it's pretty easy to follow the path. Nonetheless, we took a guide for 80K for the 2 of us. His name was Bernardo - Big Boy. HE was terrific. He gave us a great deal of information about the island, about native plants... More

Amazing trip! People seem iffy on hiring a guide. It may not be necessary, but it makes it so much more worthwhile! The owners of Southwest Cabanas called their friend, Orleans, and we are so thankful!! He was so knowledgable on plants and animals, he works with the government protecting the forest. It took about an hour and a half... More

Such a lovely hike up the mountain, not exactly an easy walk, but well worth it. The entire way is just gorgeous, with trees and plants and birds! The view from the peak is nothing short of spectacular

It is a must for anyone going to the island. The walk is about 1hr long. You may go with a guide but its not necessary (i have gone 3 times just with my girlfriend). Go early morning or at 4. Bring some water in any case. You wilñ get access to great views of the island. Quiet peaceful and... More
