We visited this beach coming from the Aquarium, thru the Canopy. The view from the top was wonderful, but when getting to the beach itself we noticed the sand was dark and it has lots of rocks, need to be careful when going to the sea. We also expected to leave later but when we were there they said the mast boat is at 3:40pm as the beach needs to be empty by 4pm. This is also a very busy beach that gets full very fast, so make sure you head there early in the morning.
The good thing is that it’s very close from Rodadero beach, less than 10min by boat.

To get to Playa Blanca you take a boat. The beach itself is not the nicest beach in the area. It is crowded, full of hawkers and closes early, if I remember correctly it was about 4 when we were asked to leave. Overhead there is a zip line so people are zipping back and forth.
Leaving the beach was chaotic since many people are leaving at the same time and must take the same boat they arrived on. We could not find our boat and after several telephone calls to the person who arranged the boat for us, we found it.
For a day at the beach, it is OK, just OK, but if you want a wide white sandy beach with few people and no hawkers head to Tayrona

It’s a quiet beach, I didn’t get much attention because the area to be on the water (and that doesn’t completely cover you) is very short compared to other beaches and if you go with children with more reason. Another thing is that the sand is thicker then it becomes difficult to walk (compared to e.g. the reel, big beach Taganga, etc).
Lunch is around 40,000 pesos, tent with chairs around 60,000 pesos
To go to white beach if you don’t go with an agency, you can look for the taximarine (a yellow taxi boat) that takes you from the jetty to white beach.

VERY crowded, not much space. The opposite of a relaxing day at the beach. We used one of the shade structures to put our stuff for 45 minutes and the guy wanted 30,000. We negotiated him down to twenty mil but otherwise no place to keep a towel

Save yourself time and money by volunteering in a hot, overcrowded refugee camp when you get home.
For full effect take a boom box with music you don’t like and then rub bacon grease on your chest to appropriately simulate the discomfort and attract the proper number of flies.
Extremely overcrowded with far more people than facilities to serve them

Horribly place full of locals with loudspeakers, prices like in Marbella - Spain- but trust me that is NOT what you wasted your time by coming to Santa Marta or Colombia. You will be taken by some strangers little boat to the beach; around 15 minutes, then you will be discharged on the beach- dirty, smelly, with drunk people around.
Do NOT waste your time , don't get ripped off!

Beautiful place to end the day. We went by boat from El Rodadero, spent a few hours at the aquarium and from there to the beach. It is very picturesque, the water is fabulous (a little cold but the day was extremely hot), transparent. It has the basics such as restaurants, tents, to spend a day at the beach in a paradisiacal environment.

As a group we had a great time but the actual beach is a disaster in my opinion. We just came from our hotel that practically has a private beach with barely anyone on it to a beach that was filthy, overcrowded on the sand and in the water. Smelled like gasoline everywhere you went due to all the boats hovered around the beach waiting for the guests. You can only arrive by boat to the beach therefore the boats are a necessity there. If you are looking for relaxation do not come here. And you have zip lines above you that really ruin a beach experience. And local workers vying for restaurant business and boat workers fighting over whose customers is whose. Really disappointing experience but our group had fun with it because we always do. And telling the stories to our friends and families was a blast. I will never go back to this beach. We went because it was top 10 on beaches to see but it must have been based on what the beach might have been like years ago. I can’t imagine anyone enjoying their time there unless they have different expectations.

We made the visit as part of a package to visit the Aquarium. After visiting the aquarium, the transportation service leaves us in Playa Blanca. Since we went in low season and on a weekday it was not crowded at all. They offer tents and chairs (there is no other option since there is no vegetation). There are vendors but they are not annoying like in Cartagena and some offer drinks and food at moderate prices. There are options to do canopy and banana rides but we didn't take them. The beach is coarse sand and rocky on the shore and the waves are moderate.

To get there you must take a marine taxi from Rodadero beach. The establishment accepts card and offers you 3 options: only trip $25,000, trip and aquarium, and with food service. We took the trip because we don't like to see enclosed dolphins and I had read about the food that the option they sell you is not very good.
There are several restaurants on the beach. We went to the two-story palapa. Here you can eat and leave your things to go to the beach. There is also the option of renting palapas.
The last marine taxi returns to the taxiway at 4:10 pm.
