New Jersey's tallest lighthouse awaits you at Pacific and Rhode Island...

New Jersey's tallest lighthouse awaits you at Pacific and Rhode Island Avenues in Atlantic City (walking distance from Showboat Casino). Take an amazing journey into time and above it all as you ascend the 228 steps of the Absecon Lighthouse, one of the oldest lighthouses in the country. You'll see breathtaking views of the Atlantic City skyline and up top you'll come face-to-face with the original first-order Fresnel Lens, first lit in 1857.The lighthouse's recent multi-million dollar restoration also includes a stunning replica of the Lightkeeper's dwelling, an educational museum, charming gift shop, Fresnel Lens exhibit in the original Oil House and expansive grounds. The Absecon Lighthouse is on both the New Jersey and National Registries of Historic Places.

You get to see an old over 116 years lighthouse. Nice place with cheap gift shop comparing to other gift shops that I've visited in US. The most important thing is the old man "Duddy" who is waiting for people at the top of the lighthouse. So kind and very nice to talk to :)

We enjoyed the small but informative historical Absecon Lighthouse. Very interesting history and pictures. We did not do the walk up all the stairs. Nice souvenirs and enjoyed seeing community garden spots being utilized!

This is a must see attraction if you don't mind climbing stairs. It only took us 30-45 minutes but we all really enjoyed it. The view at the top was beautiful and worth the climb. Also, make sure to stop and chat with the man at the top, very knowledgeable.

My work companion and I finished our work on a Thursday night and decided to take a short day "road trip" to Atlantic City the next morning just to see it since we had never been. We were near Philadelphia and it was 65 miles to AC. We left before 9am and got there around 10am. It was a cool,... More

This lighthouse sits behind the massive casino's which seem to hide it. It is worth seeing, if only to remember the history of these wonderful buildings!

Not to far from the boardwalk about two blocks off the end. Very well kept grounds with postings outside showing/explaining the history of the lighthouse and keepers dwelling. Cheap price if you want to climb the 228 steps to the top. Go on the website and click coupon for an extra dollar off per person. We found that randomly while... More

This is a good place to kill an hour or two . Interesting to learn its history, and the history of the area. You have to be semi in shape to climb to the top but its worth it .
