Great Trail

It is a wet landing so be prepared. You will see lots of birds; red and Nazca boobies, frigate birds, seagulls, herons, finches and mockingbirds.

This is quite far away from other islands in the Galapagos, and it's basically a rock full of birds. Of course, we were there for the animals, and we definately got to see nice birds in all phases of life, but it feels like we could've seen most of them on other islands as well, and then it's a long... We were dropped off at Prince Philip's Steps and once we got to the top we saw what we were in for: boobies, boobies, everywhere. They were perched in the shrubs, walking down the middle of the path and nesting right alongside. There were the now-familiar Nazca boobies, but this was the first time we encountered the Red-footed booby. After... More

You will see lots of different bird species in some pretty amazing landscape on a small and remote island!

This stop is either in the morning or afternoon, depending on whether your nature cruise first goes here or to El Barranco / Prince Phillip's Steps. It is a wet landing, so be prepared with suitable footwear. The trail is fairly short, and we spent only about 1.5 hours here, mostly watching birds (frigates, red-footed boobies, swallow-tailed gulls) but also... More

This is a short hike off Darwin's Bay. We saw sea lions, red-footed boobies, nazca boobies, frigate birds, sharp billed ground finch, prickly pear cactus with soft spines, swallow tail gull. Well worth the time to see some of these VERY up close.

Nothing really unique about the Darwin Trail on Genovesa. If your boat did not stop here, you missed very little and should probably be happy you had the chance to land in another location.

This trail leads from the beach through magrove bushes (where red-footed boobies nest) and past nests of frigate birds and Nazca boobies (which nest on the ground). The trail becomes rocky (volcanic rocks) so be prepared to change from sandals (for wet landing on the beach) to sturdy hiking shoes to walk securely on the volcanic rocks. The trail ends... More
