This was an excursion from the Silver Galapagos that was one of the highlights of the 7 day cruise. It was educational as well as the ability to see Tortoises in their natural settings. This was one of the least difficult excursions on the cruise; however, no one was disappointed.

This is a tortoise breeding center so you won't find too many huge tortoises, as most are released into the wild once they are 5 years old. We did see several big ones. The babies and young ones are super cute though. It's a hot winding trail in a semi-natural setting but it's free. There's a small info center on... More

We love turtles and tortoises and always fret when we read the news about poaching. It was great to visit a place that is trying to increase the population of giant land tortoises. We came a bit late in the day, so I think most of the tortoises were under cover. We did see several large guys (gals?) and tiny... More

We caught a Taxi to this Park, and we are so glad we did! Efrain was our Guide - a Super enthusiastic person who obviously loves what he does! The Giant Tortoise all seemed to know and like him. We thought the park/breeding centre was well worth the visit and reassured us that these magnificent creatures have a future.

If you haven't seen tortoises on the other islands, like me, as yet, this is a great setting and sighting for these amazing creatures. Lots of info, and tortoises ranging in age and size, up to really big. My guide was Spanish-speaking, but helpful in understanding more about this site. Wear good shoes as the trail is rocky in places... More

A knowledgeable and passionate guide who genuinely appreciates the tortoise! He spent an hour with us, answering questions, offering insights, and appreciated our willingness to learn.

This was a great way to learn more about the tortoises in an instructional setting, seeing them from a few weeks to a few years old, to seeing them throughout the conservancy decades old. Great photo opportunities.

Efrain has been with the Galapaguera since it opened fifteen years ago; he is the best guide and he loves this place with his heart and soul. We learned so much and enjoyed spying the tortoises among the thick vegetation. They are fed 3x a week so try to make it there on a Monday, Wednesday or friday for most... More

This was one of the excursions from our cruise around the islands, about a 40 minute drive by bus across the highlands. Our bus was not air conditioned but since he drive with doors open it was fine! The tortoise place is where they breed the island tortoises and then introduce them into the wild when they are big enough... More

I wanted to like this place so much more than we did. Yes, the tortoises are free to roam about but they mainly congregate around their watering and feeding holes which are protected. Maybe they roam about but not on the day I was there. The baby tortoises were adorable. Wish there was a little more interaction with them.
