Worth the exercise to go up the 300 steps to the top and then down the dirt path to the little viewing platform. you can't actually get to the lagoon due to the foliage and conservation efforts. Frigates dive into the water for fish and it is a spectacular serene place to come for a short visit while your taxi... More

Included on many (~$60) taxi tours of the "highlands," the lagoon is freshwater and circled by a path that makes for a pleasant walk. Good views of SE part of island if the weather is clean. You can also usually see a few frigate birds circling and swooping in for a drink. Walk up from the parking lot is a... More

It was a really nice place. A taxi can get you there but you'll have to walk 500m up. While you're travelling to the "parte alta" you get to see a lot of microclimates

It's a very scenic hike around the interesting freshwater lake. The hike is not very steep, but, is quite slippery in places. We saw quite a few of the magnificent frigate birds, returning from the sea, that came to wash the salt off their feathers in the fresh water of the lake. The view of the surrounding mountains through the... More

On the day we chose to visit as part of a tour with our taxi driver it was pouring with rain and very misty, so we didn't actually see very much. There is quite a steep walk to the top, take care some of the steps are broken and when wet its quite slippery. You really need a clear day... More

It was so cloud covered we weren't able to see much. I generally love hikes but this one was brutal without much payoff at the end. Let me save you the trip by saying that things are very green and lush at the top...

My guide brought us here following the turtle breeding center. It is the highest point on San Cristobal Island at about 2300 ft or 700 m. It's a relatively easy 1/2 mile hike up although it can be a bit slippery before the wooden steps start. There are few freshwater lakes in the Galapagos and this caldera of a large... More

Very cool to see the birds bathe in the water to clean their wings. A bit of a steep climb but on stairs and only a short hike.

nice to walk around if you have the time, it was extremely misty when we were there so we couldn't see much.

The Lagoon El Junco is a nice place but you have to be lucky finding a day with good weather. You can reach it after a short walk through a flight of steps. Be careful, because it could be slippery. We were there and we were able to see the lagoon quite clearly just before fog and rain came in!
