As the second largest town in Fiji, Lautoka has a sizeable fresh food market. Definitely worth a look. We caught a local bus to Lautoka ($3 from Nadi) & the bus station is on 2 sides of the market. The variety of fruit & vegetables isn't great but it's always interesting to see where local people shop & what they... More

Spouse had hand on wallet in pocket when entered and then felt another hand sliding up his pocket trying to get his wallet. It was a 10-12 year old boy. Slapped hand away and yelled out loud. He thwarted the robbery but it left a bad taste regarding the market. Please be vigilant when shopping here. The handicrafts seemed of... More

We travelled to Lautoka on RCI Voyager and didn't want to do a shore excursion, so a shuttle into town and had a wander through the markets. It was amazing to see the variety of fruit, veg and seafood on offer. Worth a visit !

Place where you get fresh fruits and vegetables. Not forgetting the market also has a section for seafood.

We cruised to Lautoka with RCI on voyager and took a tour with Sailada tours for about three hours around the local sites finishing with a walk through the city and fresh food market which is right next to the port and really interesting to stroll through. It was a really nice day. The people who ran our tour were... More

The ship got there on a wet steamy humid morning which didn't make it very appealing. We walked from the ship to downtown which was perfectly safe. Not really worth visiting to be perfectly honest. They have a Jack's store there where you can pickup some good souvenirs and the lovely fijian skin products. Probably would have enjoyed it if... More

Lautoka has perhaps Fiji's largest market. On Saturday mornings, the market place is buzzing with trade. I had much appreciation for the variety, healthiness and fresh, flavoursome quality of their produce. Loved the local fresh ground herbs the most I guess - cardamom and vanila!

Ok it was a battle to reach Lautoka on the bus $2.80 per person & with the current road works it took 1.5 hours each way!! However the market was great & the shopping was very good for souvenirs - very good value compared to Nadi & Denarau. We walked to the park near the foreshore - everyone was friendly... More

My wife and I and another couple went here after doing shopping in Lautoka while waiting for a cruise. Although we did not buy any local produce, it was fascinating to see how much was available. Did look at some tourist type items. Glad that this isn't our local grocery store.

On our last day in Fiji we ventured here in search of bananas. We had been searching all week with no luck in five supermarkets on the Coral Coast. It took awhile but we finally found some small, tasty specimens to add to our apples, oranges, grapes, tomatoes, pineapple pies and "pain reduction" fruit concoction. I would say this market...
