The wait for seeing the Lord is worth the glimpse u get before u are hurried out. Many changes are taking place to improve the darshan experience.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten October 10, 2023
- Kapil SoodBengaluru, India413 contributionsHow to book Darshan tickets in advanceOne of the most sacred shrine for Hindus. The peace & pleasure that you'll get doing Lord Venkateshwara Darshans here is unparalleled. This place can get very crowded hence I'm sharing few useful tips for people who'd like to visit here. Tips: 1. Book Darshan tickets in advance on their official website. 2. There are many different kinds of Darshans available, book as per your belief and affordability. Do remember that the amount you are paying is basically a donation which is being put to good use by TTD. 3. Weekdays are definitely less crowded than the weekends. 4. You can walk up to the temple from Allipiri or take a transport. We have been visiting this place nearly once in 3 months and each time come back with renewed enthusiasm. TTD has been doing an excellent job of continually building / improving and maintaining this place.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten October 14, 2023
- Padmavathi Travels TirupatiHyderabad District, India2 contributionsGreat Darshan For Me - I Visit Temple By WalkThe best Tirumala Darshan is the one that gives you the most time and opportunity to be in the presence of Lord Venkateswara. There are a few different ways to get this kind of Darshan, but they all require some planning and preparation. One of the best ways to get a good Tirumala Darshan is to book a Special Entry Darshan (SED) ticket. SED tickets can be booked online or through a travel agent. They cost more than regular Darshan tickets, but they also give you priority access to the temple.Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten October 15, 2023
- Shob LPlymouth, United Kingdom45 contributionsFeel blessed , experience of a life time.Thank you Balaji for calling us.Will come again. This is a spiritual place and obviously the score 5 is for that. It was my wish to attend Balaji temple and I feel my wish is fulfilled. I was lucky to have Jaydev as my very close friend and brother who guided me through every step. Without his help I would have been totally lost. Despite being in US he introduced us to his school friend who did a lot of running around for us. As NRI we had to get there a day before and complete all necessary and donations entry fees etc. Following morning went for Darshana and wait were approx 45 mins to an hour. Nice Darshana, obviously a bit rush due to many visitors but was all worth it. Being a temple and holy place officials can be a little friendly and welcoming. Place appears well maintained and donation is required for this which lots of people are lucky to be able to do so. Public toilet require attention Overall a brilliant experience snd feel very blessed. Thank you Vamsi Sushma kaushik and Jaydev for everything 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 7, 2023

- SudhaChennai (Madras), India93 contributionsTirumala temple visitNice temple to visit with family . We planned tirupati temple and we booked our tickets from travels who take us to tirupati ,from chennai . So since 2 family with kids we planned ,they arranged a van and by morning 5.30 am van came,it was a 1 day trip . Then we started our journey and after 2 hours they stopped in hotel and provided us breakfast idli ,Vada and dosa. Then we moved and before taking up the hill journey one check point is there ,where we have to scan all our bags and in front small vinayakar temple is there. Then uphill journey for 30 minutes ,slowly van will go. Once reached ,since we prayed for tonsure for kids ,we went to the specific place ,offered to God and kids took bath and we move ahead for darshan. Ours was 300 rs ticket. Once we are inside ,they scan our vaadhar I'd also and we have to move along the line for darshan and if we are waiting in big hall they give annadanam (rice),then we have to move for darshan of perumal. After coming out deposit changes in hundial then come out and call the driver by getting someone else mobile phone Mobile phones are not allowed once we start our journey for darshan of Lord Balaji. Then board the van and worship thayar down the hill and buy some glass bangles if interested . After worshipping they provided dinner and we moved on to chennai and reached around 12.30 am in the mid night . Only baby foods are allowed and water. No cell phones . Book tickets in advance for darshan. Keep lightweight bags. Keep other bags closed well in the vehicle we are travelling .no need to carry inside the temple premises Get the driver number in a small paper to call back once darshan is over. Also don't forget aadhar card which is important. Do not forget to buy ladoos. Also if going with kids some water and snacks or food packed is needed.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten March 31, 2024
- Dushy K1 contributionA Spiritual Journey to Tirumala : NRI Dharshan and a Glimpse of DivinityThis was our second pilgrimage to the sacred Tirumala temple. The serene atmosphere itself is a reason to visit. We flew into Chennai, spending a night before taking a private car to Tirupati. Our journey included stops at two other temples, extending the usual 3 - 4 hour drive to 7 hours. Thankfully, our driver was excellent and made the trip enjoyable. The next day, we reached the Tirupathi gates by 11 am and headed straight to the NRI counter. The process was efficient- passports verified, forms filled, and tickets purchased (300 INR each, very worthwhile). The NRI queue, though organised, did exist. However, within 45 minutes to 1 hour, we were blessed with the darshan of Lord Venkateswara (Balaji, the beloved from of Vishnu). The temple's organisation was impressive. Despite the crowds, we didn't feel overly tired. And the moment you gaze upon Lord Vishnu, the world melts away. The darshan itself may be brief, but that fleeting glimpse is worth a lifetime. There was just one snag: mobiles were not allowed inside. While a secure storage facility was provided, retrieving them after darshan presented a challenge. The scorching sun and hot ground made walking barefoot back to the storage area difficult. Similarly, collecting the prasad (laddu) involved another trek in the heat. Finally, reaching our driver ( who could not speak English) and coordinating with him the pickup spot, was a bit challenge. Despite these minor inconvenience, the trip was a success. However, a suggestion for the temple management: painting a heat-resistant walking path and / or consolidating phone/prasad collection points closer to the entrance/ exit would greatly enhance the pilgrim experience. Overall, a truly a spiritual journey to a magnificent temple.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten May 6, 2024
- DayTrip579071811475 contributionsTirupati DharshanWe visited Tirupati in early July. We booked an Uber cab from Chennai for around ₹3800, including tolls and state tax. Our hotel, Udayee International, was opposite the Andhra Pradesh Bus Terminal and cost ₹2500 per night (with a 24-hour checkout). Although it was a bit pricey due to the location, we found it convenient. We easily got buses and autos outside the hotel and obtained the Sarva Darshan token from Srinivas building nearby. However, we had to wait in line for 3 hours to get the token for the next day at 8 pm. Instead, we decided to climb the steps from Alipiri, hoping to get a Divya Darshan token, but unfortunately, it was discontinued due to a recent government change. The steps had 3500 steps and a total distance of 8 km, taking us around 4.5 hours to reach the top. After reaching the top, we managed to use our Sarva Darshan token and entered the queue at 2 pm. The queue was long, taking us 7 hours to complete the darshan. We had an incredible experience and felt divine after the darshan. Some tips: book special entry tokens online to avoid long queues, consider Tamil Nadu state bus packages for a convenient trip, and be prepared to walk a lot on the top. That's it. Hope you also have a great dharshan. Om namo venkatesaVisited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten July 6, 2024

Heard a lot about this temple and so wanted to visit once after staying in bangalore for years .
We didn’t get booking on the website so took from an agent Balaji travels who overcharge us almost 7 times for the darshan booking as we planned last moment and wanted the darshan ticket .
After reaching temple we entered at 9 am and our darshan was scheduled at 10 am . Took almost 3 hrs waiting in a dedicated area and then aur started for main temple darshan .
This was chaos ,people were forcing each other to get into the temple at last strech of 15-20 mins . At this situation of covid ,it should be managed well atleast the que and male female separate line .
Inside temple it’s just 10 second darshan as security force you to move quickly out but that darshan was divine and worth the wait of 4 hrs .

What better way to kick start a new year than a visit to Lord Sri Venkateshwara, especially given one stays in Tirupati, the city at the foothills of the temple.
New year's vacation period during a closing pandemic was alluring beyond ordinary. This led me to take up the Tirumala trip by foot, for the first time. I had booked a 10AM slot on 9th Jan for darshan through the offical website ( you have to be quick, else the slots get filled quite fast); shoutout to local Instagram pages for giving the heads up.
You can find the route length, facilities along the way and related info in the other posts for this topic. I thought I'll mention a few lesser know facts and preperation required.
Skipping to the flag off day:
I started early at the Alipiri steps ( there are two routes, the other being Sri vari metalu), around 6:45 am. You can drop in your luggage here and collect it near the temple, or if it's a bag pack or something similar, can carry it like I did, without much difficulty. Wear comfortable clothes for the ascent, as you have to change to traditional attire ( dhoti or kurts for men and sari or chudidar for women) only before entering the temple premises.
I suggest you go barefoot; and please note, it is not mandatory to do so,but this after all is a holy climb. Moreover you'll find pilgrims placing kunkum and Khalid on every step, a few even lighting camphor, so it is indeed inappropriate to have footwear in the vicinity.
The steps are regularly swept and floor is quite easy on the naked foot.
Dont be worried about water, food, snacks or toilets on the way. There are many options sensibly spaced.
To give a brief idea about the route, first about 2000 steps are only steps, reasonably steep. Later on its lavishly spanned with long stretches of flat walls, surrounded by splendid greens. Then about 2800 steps later, you reach Sri Laksmi Narasimha Swami temple, from where you merge with the road used by vehicles on the way down. And the journey culminates with some steps named "Mokalu mettalu" ( Knee steps,
as few devotees climb them on their
knees!).
I finished the climb from bottom to the entrance of the temple in 2 hrs. I know, sounds too much of a claim, but I went hard, took it as an endurance test for myself. Took literally no rest stops and paced up all the way. Was very exhilarated on completion though.
And I guess if attempted at a normal pace, in a relaxed fashion, it would easily take 3 to 3.5 hrs.
All in all, the effort is rewarding. Darshan was peaceful as well. And I went ahead and took the way back on foot again, through the same route. Now it was a little faster, about 1.45 hrs. But be very careful, as getting down is actually more hard, needs your constant attention and control over body.
Hope you have a fun climb too!
Cheers.

it was my first visit to Thirumala and I was overawed by everything I saw and experienced. Stayed at Tirupathi (Hotel Udaya International) and drove up to Thirumala hills for the darshan.
The Darshan itself was wonderful however, the manner in which the pilgrims are literally put into a cage as they await their turn and the rude behavior of the staff with the poor pilgrims was something I could have done without witnessing at a pilgrimage site.
But then a glimpse of Lord Venkateshwara made the journey worth the effort. Jai Govinda! and the chance to donate one's hair at Kalyan Katta to our Lord was once in a lifetime. A definite must visit - recommended that you book your special darshan tickets online at TTD Seva. Incase, it is an impromptu calling of the Lord, just make your way to the Srinivasam Complex at around 3 am and wait till the ticket window opens around 7 am to take your tickets. Only 500 tatkal tickets are issued per day so hurry and reach there early. Don't forget to carry your Aadhar Card without which you will not get the Darshan Ticket. With this Special Darshan Ticket, it will take you a maximum of 2 hours or so to get the Darshan.

We visit Tirupathi every year with family and the travel to the seven hills is a great journey. We usually book Rs 300/- ticket darshan and before the year 2020 the line for Rs 300 darshan was a direct one to the hall where we have to show our Aadhar card and online tickets for checking in to the Temple.
Earlier the waiting time will be a maximum of two hours or two and half hours and we usually reach the Tirumala Temple main gate soon. It is only when we near the darshan of Venkateshwara Balaji that the crowd pushes and pulls you and you have to be very careful with your child and belongings to catch a few seconds glimpse of Lord Venkataramana Govinda!!
But now the darshan of Rs 300 has been postponed after 2 PM in the afternoon and the waiting time is now more than 4 hours.
Besides this waiting time and crowd, we are always harassed by the Temple staff and volunteers who shout at your ears to move fast and to get lost before you even fold your hands for darshan.
The Temple of Tirumala has become the private property of wealthy people and donors and businessmen of India and I can see that common devotees have no respect in the Temple.
I hope and pray that one day our Lord Balaji himself visits Tirumala Temple as an ordinary devotee and take the steps and see the darshan being arranged in the Temple.

Visiting Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala has become more comfortable with new facilities. Now you can expect the darshan is completed within 2 hours on a normal day in Rs 300 category. Waiting and handling of pilgrims has become much better.

I have booked kalyana seva of God Venkateswara & Padmavthi by advance booking. I also advance booked my accommodation on hills at Tirumala.
I went in to line at 8am and checked my self with family and waited for seva inside the temple. We were allowed inside the temple by 10.15 am and made to sit. The Kalyanam started at 12 noon and concluded by 13.15. Then we were sent for darshan of God Venkateswara. We were given sesha vastram and after darshan we are asked to collect Laddu prasad. The rooms were super good and have hot water, have westren and India toilets. Hit water is available in the accommodation.

I had visited Tirumala for a wedding and took the opportunity to seek Lord Balaji's efficiency. I booked special darshan for Rs. 300 per head online in November 2019 through a spotlessly efficient process. Chose a 2 pm darshan and reported 10 minutes before. Darshan was done by 2.45 and we collected the laddus available as part of the darshan from the counter. Darshan was from outside but Balaji being large, we could clearly see him. We had booked a room, again through the online process which was again seamless from booking to allocation and cost 1k. The room was very spacious, modern and neat. We had free lunch at the Annaprasada center which was wholesome, hot and well organised. Tirumala reminded me of a Singapore or Geneva on the neatness(including public toilets) and staff efficiency front. There r free buses to move around at good frequency. Keep up the good work, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD)!

Being a world famous temple, should have a better management also.
The management who are getting salaries because of the devotees are so rude.
They don't know a common language, knowing that people come from all over India. No proper arrangements has been made for senior citizens, the crowd is so pathetic that they were pushing senior citizen, fighting with them, no proper queue has been maintained and no staff was there to keep an eye on the crowd.Small children's were crying like anything because of the suffocation. Charging extra amount for special darshan, and when after 5 hours we got the chance to see Lord Tirupati Balaji, the staff pushed us away.
God only knows where all the money is going, being on of the richest temple in India.

We visited temple on our holiday to India from UK. We got Rs. 300 special darshan tickets and were advised that darshan will be done in 2 hours time. We are family of 4. We reached Tirumala at 2 pm on 08/08/22 and were shown the line to join, joined line around 2:30 pm. There were checks at 4 points along the line which I feel is pointless, if you have done checks properly once, there is no need for further checking. All devotees were sent to compartments inorder to wait for the Darshan. There were no facilities for water or any snacks in the compartments, it used to be lot different 4-5 years back (where in devotees have option to buy any refreshments while waiting in the compartment). No one has a clue how long we need to wait in the compartments. When they opened the doors of compartments they were opening on both sides which created more chaos, small children were crying on top of their voice. There were 2 break darshans (entry for VIP's by stopping other devotees) during our wait in the compartment. Devotees were treated like nothing and there is no operational management of the queues, most of the employees/volunteers doesn't have a clue. Even in the digital age there is no option to pay via phonepay/google pay or card payments in the queue. We completed our darshan after 4 hours in the queue, thought we will have lunch after darshan thinking it will take close to 2 hours. We were without lunch or any refreshments for 4 hours. Once we come out of queue collecting Laddu's is one more challenge. Based on my experience, I thought TTD committee is making tough for devotees to have smooth darshan.

You can check & book at ttdsevaonline website which is only official site. There are 10's of bogus sites and don't opt for these. For every month they release next month quota if temple visit( darshan), accomodation and services ( sevas)
Never ever believe fake websites or tours referral as they cheat you
Like Email, you can register your user ID pass word at this site & rest all self navigation
