a drive in the mountains was rewarded with a spectacular view of the valley and White Sands. There were places to pull off and enjoy the view.

This was the closest camp ground to White Sands and it is a beautiful campground. It's quiet with gorgeous views of the mountains to the Southwest. There are shelters on some of the camp sites, and a real bathroom with showers.

We stayed here for 2 nights and were quite pleased. We were traveling with our 6 year old son and our dog. The campsite is very quiet and beautifully designed and well maintained. There are lighted trails that lead to the showers/restrooms and around the campsites. We did the nature trail and part of the Dog Canyon trail. Both were... More

If you like a peaceful, quiet campground with good hiking trails and great staff then this is the place to be. The Visitors Center has a great museum, interpretive trails and the park is open year round. With 44 campsites of which 7 are resolvable on Reserve America. It is a small campground and seems to fill up on the... More

Take note, US states--New Mexico has the best state parks we've been in, and Oliver Lee leads the pack. At first I thought it seemed pretty open and barren, but each site has vegetation that provides at least some privacy--this was my husband's favorite simply because of the vegetation: yucca, cacti, sotol, etc. The birding here was very good considering... Take the time to go into the visitors center to learn about the area. Good trails for hiking. They give tours of the old Oliver Lee ranch house on Saturdays. Good camp/RV sites.

The museum was a welcoming escape from the wind on the day we visited. Lots of old west articles on display and items from local history. The garden was still a nice stroll despite the wind. Was interesting to see it from the basin for once.

My family and I needed somewhere to stay with our 35ft rig near Whitesands NP. We found this little gem. Hosts were lovely and helpful and even loaned my daughter a sled for playing at Whitesands. Place was immaculate. Views were stunning. Visitors centre interesting and educational and the walking trails were fun. We only intended in overnighting and ended... More
