Set against the west-facing escarpment of the Sacramento Mountains, Oliver Lee Memorial State Park features scenic views from 44 campsites, historical exhibits and a fully restored 19th century ranch house. Springs from Dog Canyon support a variety of unexpected plant life on the short nature trail and for the adventurous, the Dog Canyon National Recreation Trail rises 3,100 feet in 5.5 miles.

Breathtakingly and jawdroppingly beautiful hike to the rim of Dog Canyon. Quite strenuous, especially the part between the Line Cabin (milemarker 3) and the rim (milemarker 4), be careful here! Last mile is quite level. Hike end at dirt road. Beautiful views at White Sands...More

Views, gorgeous light, lots of vegetation and fun trails. The trails are shady in the morning. Go early.

My hubby and I enjoy going here for a bit of hiking. I also enjoy having a bbq and bonfire at night. The sky at night is magnificent. They have campgrounds but I don't camp.

Turn off the TV and video games and enjoy the outdoors. You can hike all the way up! Good Exercise and nice scenery and history in southern NM.

We had a trailer in Site 2 which was fairly level. Site 1 across from us also looked fairly level. Great stay.
