There isn't much to the house but the museum is worthwhile. It contains clear explanations, in several languages, including English, of some of Gandi's activities and why he proceeded as he did.

With lot of curiosity I landed up at the Ashram early morning to witness the transition from old Sabarmati to new Sabarmati River Front, a shift from 20th century to 21st century...time very well spent at Ashram...now a source of information and inspiration for new generation.....

The setting is peaceful, on the banks of the river. The buildings have been restored and maintain the original architecture. Small low buildings are scattered in the spacious grounds dotted with lots of greenery. The shop has excellent selection of books, mementos. There were lots of people from all walks of life yet it it did not feel croded or... More

While the museum is well laid out and attempt has been made to retain the original structures, there is need to modernise the displays with more audio visual equipment. Most of the visitors are born much after Gandhiji died therefore a brief introduction to his times would be very helpful.
