St. Aloysius Chapel is often compared to the Sistine Chapel because of its paintings done by Italian artist Brother Antonio Moscheni. It was mind-boggling to see the entire chapel decorated with frescos and oil paintings on the ceiling done by one man in 2 ½ years with framed tableaux on the life of St Aloysius Gonzaga (the patron saint of... A very nice chapel situated within St Aloysius Campus. The paintings on the walls and ceilings are absolutely breathtaking and leave you awestruck. It is very peaceful inside and good to spend time meditating.

The Church has so many hand paintings inside the church wall. A must visit place. There is also a museum in the campus with all old articles used in ancient time. If you have kids with you, do make a visit.

3rd time lucky... our host really wanted to show us this chapel but when we went, it's either closed or the watchman is on break. St aloysius chapel would always be very close to my heart since completed my graduation in St Aloysuis college. We would visit the chapel every friday and would be mesmerized by the various paintings drawn on the ceiling of the chapel. It is definitely a must visit place if you are an art lover

Good place to visit once in a life, this old church is designed by a foreigner in 1880 who has taken 30 months time to decorate its interior.

Having visited the Sistine Chapel, I could understand why its nick name, 'Sistine Chapel of the East'. Beautiful paintings that depict the life of Jesus and Saint Aloysius adorn the insides of this chapel. Glad that the paintings have been well cared for.

The St. Aloysius Chapel built by the Jesuit Priests on top of a hill in the heart of the city is a must visit tourist destination in Mangalore. The fresco paintings are based on the Sistine Church in Rome and are a delight. The paintings add to the serenity the Chapel offers and one can meditate in peace for hours... More
