This museum looked okay to start with, with one knowing the history of Kerala, and does show glimpses of it.. Needs to add more variety to be interesting.

This small museum tells the story of Keralan history. Visits are self guided. Some of the computer displays were not working. Those that were had a lot of interesting information on them.
The tourist price is reasonable.
Worth a visit ahead of the Napier museum

Awesome place to visit with family or friends. We can find complete history of Kerala and heritage sculptures. For history students it will be a best experience.

Compared to zoo and palace ( similar entrance fee) this was a total waste of money. Building average, displays average, no fans on so overheat. The only interesting bit was recreated 2 rooms. Don't bother.

The exhibits started out promising, but it ended rather abruptly. Even though we were promised a history of Kerala, there was no mention of the Travancore kingdom, nor anything after the 16th century.
Be also aware that bags are not allowed inside the museum, but a free bag check is available.
Overall, instead of spending 200 Rs, you could get more enjoyment at the zoo across the road for 20 Rs.

The rate fr foreign visitors is tenfold that for local people. That would be OK, but there is very little to see, even less that is different, and you are walked round the displays by a member of staff...at quite a speed.
Best stick to the other attractions and museums.

The museum is quite small but housed in an attractive traditional building, across the road from the much better known Napier museum. It is well worth a visit. It contains some lovely artefacts and helpful interpretive boards in English. Admission charge was 200 rupees for foreigners.

For the price there was very little to see. I walked back through as I thought I had missed an area. Not worth 200 rupees.

The collection is pretty impressive, it begins at pre-historic times and ends at today's local customs. Some of the 13-14th century wooden sculptures are of astonishing, superb quality and seem to belong to the Louvre and not to a regional museum, and so are the bronzes. The museum is very well organized, every room has clear explanations in English. It is a good follow-up after the Napier Museum across the street, which is much cheaper for foreign tourists but its collection seems neglected and/or unloved.
