Vishrambaug Wada ... Is the perfect example of Maratha architecture at its peak.
The newly built 'Maharashtra Sadan' in New Delhi is a Replica of this beautiful building !
Apart from its architectural beauty, Vishrambaug wada is a Must Visit place for every tourist & history lover who is visiting Pune for the first time ! (Although most of the Pune residents also are unaware of Pune's history)
The exhibition, 'Punavadi te Pune', beautifuly displays, more than 700 years history of Pune City. History and planning of different parts of Pune city, makes you admirer of Peshwa's town planning.
Every tourist visiting Pune should start their Pune darshan from this exhibition, followed by visit to Shanwar wada & Parvati.

This is brilliant place. The architecture is superb. Very shabbily maintained. They have information on history of Pune. However lots can be done to attract tourist.

Located amidst crowded lanes in the old city, this is a hidden jewel. With its intricate woodwork, it is worth a visit....
However the staircases are narrow and not wheelchair friendly.

Pune a great place to visit. There are a lot of places to visit in and around Pune. Vishram Bagh Waada Palace is in the heart of the city,in the crowed market place. This is a must visit place. The wooden structure is one of its kind. It depicts the lifestyle and royal style of the Peshwas. This place is surrounded with Laxmi road on one side. The famous Tulsi Bag and the Mahatma Phule Market on the other side. So it serves all the purpose of one's visit.Sight seeing and Shopping. Not to miss the famous Chitale sweet shop right opposite Vishram Bagh Waada.

Vishrambaug Wada is located in the Peth area of the old city and is an important landmark of the city. It was the residence of the Maratha Peshwe (prime minister) and later the office of Pune Municipality. The exteriors, painted walls, wooden columns and cenotaph at the entrance are worth admiring.
This place could have been better used as a Maratha history museum than the one atop Parvati hill.

This is nice Peshwa era palace built in 18th century. Its architecture and sculptures are fantastic. Small but beautiful mahal / darbar and museum is located here. Renovation is ongoing.

I was awed by the sheer magnificence of this old building. It is like walking back in town. If you visiting Pune, you should come to this place. I wish, it's upkeep could be better. It's like history is slipping away from our very hands. Had only read about the rule of the mighty peshwas; looking at it confirms it.

An enchanting and informative heritage site located in the heart of Pune city in Sadashiv Peth, displaying the leagacy of the Peshwas (Prime ministers) of the all powerful Maratha dynasty. The wada or mansion reflects the rich architectural prowess prevailing during the golden period and cultural ethos from which the city of Pune derives its fame. One can visit for free and see the ancient maps and text/ document exhibition on display in the first floor which explains in brief the entire rich origins and history of Pune city and the Peshwas. Some relics like the "Gadi" or bed, lamps, desks etc. are also on display. Visitors can also enjoy the special and traditional 'Kairi' (raw mango) bhel and 'Panah', in the cafeteria on the ground floor before proceeding across to Tulsibaug or nearby Laxmi road for a traditional shopping spree. Overall a must visit for every visitor to Pune.
