One can see 18 fossils spread over the park. The fossils are 18 million years old wood fossils, preserved by nature. A must for students and interested people.

Fabulous place if you are interested in Fossils and Archaeology or history lover... Here fossilized trees are sleeping like mummies. What I got to know from here that during Pre-Jurassic times this place used to be a forest with flowing river. More fossils are being excavated ....Will surely enhance your general knowledge..

This is one tourist destination in Jaisalmer which has hardly got any visitors. It is basically an area where wooden fossils have been discovered and the area cordoned off and converted to a fossil park. Some of the fossils have been collected together and put up for display. It is located about 18 kms from Jaisalmer and one needs to... More

Do visit this park if you are interested in fossils. Some of the oldest fossils in world..about 18 crores years old..but needs better way to present them..no display boards explaining about how the fossils were found..please meet Mr.Surinder Singh (caretaker) in the park..one of the finest person explaining about the place and fossils..

This place has wood fossils of around 180 million years old. All the found fossils are covered to protect except few samples to show as a proof. The wood fossils are recovered in rock solid condition. Wood is as hard as the stone. There are few samples kept outside which have foot prints of some bird and were termite infected... More

The place is great to learn some geology, with fossils dating 190 million years old. The place could have been better maintained. But the landscape is very different from surrounding places, with black rocks created by volcanic activity.

We hired scooters and it was a fairly straightforward and easy ride to this fossil park. There are some old reviews mentioning taciturn gatekeepers etc but all has changed for the better now. The entrance fee is very reasonable and the gatekeeper was enthusiastic and helpful.

Facing apathy of govt..but nonetheless a great place of knowledge. A must visit place for students and science buffs.
