The meuseum is about Indian Army and Longewala war. They have a display of War tanks, trucks and Pakistani tanks captured by Indian army in 1965 war. It has a entry ticket for adults and free for children's upto 12 years. Those who are not able to visit the Longewala border museum can visit this place. There is also a souvenir shop which has wine glasses, clocks, mugd, hoodies etc. Feels patriotic and proud of the Indian Army.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten November 25, 2023
- HrishiSSangli, India96 contributionsGreat Experience for KidsThe War Museum is newish and is much nicer compared to the Longewala Memorial. We went in the evening and did the museum plus the audio visual tour. The Audio Visual is a must, no point in doing just the museum. Then since it was 6pm we decided to do the Sound and Light Show. Luckily we got 2 tickets (No tickets for kids under 12). The Sound and Light show is about the 71 war at the Longewala post which is also depicted in the movie Border. It is a must do especially if you have kids.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten November 30, 2023

If you're Indian & visiting Jaisalmer, then you simple cannot skip this place. Tanks & other military vehicles on display. Accounts of all the wars fought & won by Indian army till date! Short film screening showing the achievements of Indian army. Souvenir shop. I absolutely loved it. This place will make you realize about the achievements of Indian Armed Forces. It'll make you feel how indebted we are to our armed forces, who protect the nation day & night! Just go for it. Respect, love, blessings & a salute to our armed forces! Jai Hind!
(Tip: Hotel taxis/car hires can cost you very high to visit this place, as its around 15 km from Jaisalmer. Instead you can get in-touch with following auto guy I met. He can take you here for lesser amount. Mr. Anil +91 6376435856 .. He can even take you for a day trip of attractions in Jaisalmer city, at a very reasonable price. Please note that I've taken his due permission & then only have posted his number here.)

We had no idea that we would visit here. Our lovely driver Mukesh pulled in here on our way to our stop over in Jaisalmer. It was very busy with Indian familys and it was lovely to see parents explaining the exhibits to their children.
Most if not all of the exhibits have English explainations beside them and it is fascinating to learn about the conflicts and the bravery of their Armed Forces.
The entrance tickets have a story on the back of various acts of bravery by an individual and are well worth keeping as a memento of your visit.
The entrance fee is the same for all 30 INR, this will be money well spent.
Visit the little shop as you will be able to pick up some great souveniers, plus some very interesting books about their Armed Forces.
Around the Museum carved into rocks are various sayings.
One that caught our eye was this..
" If death strikes before I prove my blood, I swear I will kill death."
Give the Museum a go I think that you may well learn alot, I know we did.

Place to stretch legs, use toilet and snap some photos = yes.
Place to get insight into Indian Army history = no.
If you want to compare this to a war museum in the states it’s a single star. If you want to compare it to other Indian museums, I’m not entirely sure...May be 3 stars?
Stopped by here on our way back to Jodhpur. Provides insight into some of the Indian Army history and various battles. Very one sided and has hints of propaganda throughout. Provides a base of info to start your own research into the Indian Army.
There are some tanks and artillery sitting outside to snap photos.
Many photos are pixelated and blown up from somewhere. Context is lacking all around. In the words of my dad “the tour guide was a mistake.” Constantly getting a phone call from her masi! In my experience the guides are in a rush to show you everything the quickest way possible!

It's a must visit, to experience to witness our defence force personal perform for safety of our country.
I bought the entry ticket with audio and guided tour, which was the best decision to experience the Museum.
After the short movie, i was chocked, as it really moves your soul.
There canteen too is well maintained and quiet cheap. Food is served quiet fast and no compromise in taste.

The Jaisalmer War Museum was an essential stop for us on way to our stay in Jaisalmer. From Bikaner, this spot is on the way right outside the main city. Something noteworthy is that the highways and main roads are simply amazing and it is a pleasure to drive if one is a road trip enthusiast! The War Museum is located on the outskirts of the city and is a secure army zone. The museum houses important details about India's wars, mainly about the Longewala Battle. There are recreated models of captured war vehicles, arms, and ammunition. We were lucky to be there at a time when the museum closed but the sound and light show began. The show is a reverberating reminder to all Indians about the fierce battle fought by our warriors at Longewala and it is a must for every Indian. This experience, in a way set the tone for our onward journey as we stepped into the difficult terrains of Rajasthan.

The whole museam is a "must visit", especially kids who need to understand "The Indian Army"and the sacrifices of our bravehearts. Excellent parking facility, very nominal tickets. The cafeteria was average, with very poor service.

We found it is a nice place to visit. Especially kids know the importance of Indian army well. There are real tanks and other war related displays placed. Additionally, they show short movie related to what Indian army does. So, good to visit.
Overall it takes approx. one hour to visit. One small thing to keep in mind that there is a lunch break between 1:30 to 2:30. So, don’t go during this time period. It is situated approx. 11 km from the main city. So auto rickshaw person usually charges Rs. 500 to 600 for to and fro journey. Charges to see entire museum is Rs. 55 per person. I advise travelers to take guide (charge is Rs. 100 only), so that we can have a better idea about the importance of each area.

7. Next day arrive back in the morning at 1100. Get ready, have lunch and out for rest of the sightseeing by1300
8. Take auto and go to the war museum and back by 1530. (2.5 hrs sufficient for the to and fro journey and the museum visit?????)
9. visit patwon ki haveli and salim singh haveli by 1730.

a. Is it worth going to the Desert national park if i am already spending 1 night in desert safari?

c. Can Bada baug be accommodated anywhere in the itinerary or it is worth a skip?
Since, i dont have family and ladies along with me in this trip, i believe i wont waste time in the movement, local transport, eating joints and getting ready.
Please advice
