Our guide - a man of great local knowledge - brought us to this very significant place where over the last 350 years 250 cenotaphs have been built by the maharajas of Mewar to commemorate their families and more importantly the 19 Maharajas who were cremated here. Unsure if this is a sanctioned site for tourists as the grass is... More

Though I'm a resident of udaipur itself but never got to visit Ahar cenotaphs. But once I visited there, I go there every time I get a chance. Spending time there is a sublime experience and worth it. Its really peaceful there. Highly recommended for history lovers, philosophers, writers and those who seek moments of peace.

The Ahar Cenotaphs is basically a complex in memory of the royal family members of Mewar Dynasty. There are beautiful open air domed structures supported by pillars. Some of the pillars have beautiful carvings also. There is no entrance fee and no guides available to explain. Worth visiting place in Udaipur.

To recommend visiting a graveyard may seem odd but these memorials, and their number, are worth the trip for the architecture and grace of these temples, some in disrepair but some of the marble carvings being restored.

It takes you back in time, a very thought provoking place of much beauty! Don't go to the museum though, waste of 100 rs entrance fee.

Beatiful Domes but is kind of creepy, isolated, in fact it was closed, but I had a look inside and the cenothaps are beautiful domes carved in marble mostly but just couldnt go inside ....

Was all alone in this visual wonder. The place was deserted except the dogs and a guard. The gate was closed but not locked. There are several entrance points and worth exploring all. What looks like the main entrance leads to a well with Cenotaphs around. another gate in the wall leads into the complex. it is a great place... More
