It is not very clear why it is called a sanctuary. There are two end points inside one which the forest department vehicles will take to in which you can see the Amman Temple, a very steep waterfalls beside and a good view of the lake and the second untrodden path where you are likely to encounter herds of wild... Avalanche is the one of the best place to visit in ooty for enjoying the beauty of nature. It's about a hr drive from the town

We went to this sanctuary in car. Its very traffic, road is not good and it has taken 2 to 3 hours taken to go to this sanctuary. While going their, there are few more places are for visiting. One is waterfalls and also lots of trees and plants are there for photography.

A road trip from Hyderabad to singara estate and from there to Ooty and there to avalanche. We could actually notice difference in the temperature drop from place to place. Beautiful location with amazing views of the reservoir with huge and tall old trees by the river banks. We haven't stayed there for the nite. Imagine The weather in the... More

I have been to Avalanche Sanctuary in August month and that time weather was very pleasant but roads are not so good. Basically a transportation vehicle is provided by the forest department. That could be a bus @ 150 or you can take a Tavera or Mahindra Sumo @ 1200 for 6 or 7 seating group. They will cover three... More

Transportation to is not good. So keep a good vehicle for travelling. If we are using their own transportation may need to wait 2 or 3 hours.

This is a very beautiful and close to nature kind of place. To visit this forest area you will need to go only through the government vehicle and the trip will not be very comfortable but what you see there is mesmerizing. It takes 2 hours to complete the trip

It is a nice forest trip first by car from Ooty then forest safari van. 2hrs trip between the Cauliflower Shola forest, Bhavani falls and temple upto upper Bhabani lake But actual Emerald lake and Avalance lake is before the forest check post and safari counter. Best visited after monsoon or there will be no water.
