It was not in my "plan" but everything, from the people I met on the plane there with Air India to the day I blessed the Ganga with my guts (got sick...)... More

We visited famous ghats of Varanasi thrice in our two days stay and absorbed their charms from boat ride at dawn, dusk and walk on various Ghats. The ancient buildings interspersed with renovated and new ones is interesting. Varied views of funeral ghats , bathing ghats , temples, sadhus , beggars, street vendors and ubiquitous chai sellers keeps you engrossed and... More

Kedar ghat is about 300 to 400 metres from famous dashashwmegh ghat, relatively less crowded but evening Aarti or Puja which is performed here is exactly similar to one performed at dashashwmegh ghat but only one pandit performes it and you get better chance to witness Puja from near proximity.

Authentic place to people-watch and offers a fascinating glimpse into Hindu life. Each ghat is different with its own history and purpose. See cows, goats, monkeys, dogs, monks, Hindus and westerners mingle together in an explosion of vibrancy and colour. A procession that hasn't changed much for a thousand years. Living, breathing history. Simply majestic.

The Ghats of Varanasi are very famous since long for its mythological description and the religious beliefs and values. The meandering river of Ganga between Varuna to Assi is having stone paved Ghats. Apart from the religious works one can enjoy the leisure time with his family or couple on walking along the Ghats. It's the beauty of life which... More
