My wife and I went to the Shree Vishwanatha Mandir (temple) whilst visiting Varanasi during a tour of northern India. Located within the Banaras Hindu University campus, the 19th century temple is one of the highest in India with an impressive, white marble spire. You need a decent guide to get much benefit from a visit here. There are numerous... More

The temple is built inside the Banaras Hindu University. The temple and the entire premises is well kept and pleasing to the eye.

Beautifully constructed, well maintained, very clean and solemn temple in Banaras Hindu University campus. This is a shiva temple. The devotees can have serene, peaceful, divine experience at the temple.

The temple is very nice. I regularly visit this temple with family. There is ample open space outside the temple where you can sit down. Outside the temple there are many shops for snacks and shakes

Very quiet and serene, I personally liked the inscriptions and the pictorial depictions on the walls.

We were going around Banaras Hindu University and discovered this temple, which is another place to get lighter (by making donations to the temple priests). One need not visit this place unless a devout Hindu, having blind faith in various gods and goddesses. The timings are regulated - 9am to 12 noon and 1pm to 9 pm.

The Viswanath Temple, situated inside the Banaras Hindu UNiversity is a must visit. It provides you the taste of local culture. The temple of Lord Shiva has also its own importance. As constructed by Biraja, this is also known as Birja temple.
