The walk up from the car park is challenging but very beautiful. The view from the top looking north is great but to the south you see nothing due to pollution.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 21, 2023
- Debashis TDehradun, India2,297 contributionsSplendid view from topBe prepared for a 1.5 km uphill walk on a paved road. It's advisable to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as there are no shops along the way. At the top, the view is magnificent, offering a mesmerizing panoramic view of the surroundings. Upon reaching the summit, you'll find a museum and 2-3 small shops selling Maggi and paranthas. In clear weather, the surrounding vistas are truly breathtaking, making the effort to climb worthwhile.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten June 15, 2024
- Sumit KhajuriaJammu City, India323 contributionsThis is the most beautiful place I had visited in Mussorrie So many breathtaking views of sunset and nature u see hereBelieve me friends this is one of the most beautiful place to visit in Mussorie. The place has a parking space which cost u round about 100 Rupees and the entry fee to the camp is 200 rupees for per person. U can also go to the peak in your own vehicle but u to had pay extra 1000 for taking your vehicle to the top. In case u don’t want to take your own vehicle then there is a vehicle service who charge u 100 rupees per person for taking u on the peak but they will drop u in return also till 7:00 pm only. The return track is just 1.5 kilometres and I must suggest to return by walking because before 7 u can never view the sunset which is the most important part of the visit. When u reach on the peak u will find the mesmerising beauty and breathtaking views of Mussorie from a 360 degree angle. At the peak there is also the house library of Sir George Everest who was British surveyor and geographer who served as Surveyor General of India from 1830 to 1843. This place must be visited by every tourist. On the peak u can also enjoy Maggie Momos and tea coffee with lots of other things offered by the locals.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten June 20, 2024

Far away from the madding crowd is the hike to the Everest peak and Everest house. The short hike of about 40 mins takes one from the meadow at the beginning of the walking trail, to the Peak that opens up to all the snowpeaks - swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Srikant, Gangotri I, II, III, Jaonli, Brigupanth, Satopant, Kedarnath, Chaukhamba. Best to avoid the Everest House so that you can spend time on the hike to the Peak, which offers great vista of himalayas

People are not being honest about this site. First of all most people are driving to the location and then begin a very steep but paved hike uphill for at least 30 minutes or more. Along the way you see lots of rubbish left by people who bought snacks at the start and decided to just leave the chips bags along the way. Once you reach the top of the paved part, it’s not clear what to do next as there are no real signs. Just construction of a house(?) and some more food stalls. I guess you have to go up an unmarked steep path for another 30 minutes to where there are some flags. To the peak. It could be nice if people didn’t litter, there was more signage and if there were some places to maybe sit and rest once you arrive. It’s a waste of time.

For those who like short hikes and treks, this is a good trail. The ascent isn't too difficult and the views from the top are typically those you get from mountain tops.
We unfortunately went on a Saturday and had to deal with noisy crowds and trails that had plastic packets and water bottles littered.

One of the hidden gems of Uttarakhand is the George Everest Peak or Park Estate built in 1832 and named after Sir George Everest , the surveyor from East India Company. This is located near Mussorie.
To be frank enough, when u go towards the place, the roads are completely secluded without any human presence (except one or two small shops) and you might even think you are on the wrong road. But keep asking whoever you find on the way regarding the way and that will help u. The road is in a very very pathetic condition and if you are riding your bike or car, it will be very difficult to reach until you have the experience of some rough hilly terrain. I would suggest that trek towards the place from the base(some 2.5km walk).
The only happiness to all these hard roads and seclusion is the view u get on reaching the top. After u reach the Estate, which houses a ruin of Sir Everest's Home, u can still walk towards the peak after consulting local dukanwalas. All you can find is clouds hovering your way, blue sky, rocky way, and an infinte path to heaven. Beauty of the place is surreal. Go and experience it. Don't forget to have the Cheese Maggie and Coffee at Friend's Maggie Corner.

Sir George really had the privileged life and luxury to stay at such beautiful location. There is a hike of around 1 to 1.5km from base. The road is perfect motorable, but it's closed for tourist vehicles. We have to walk.upto the house. There is everest base camp cafe too for eating and hangout. We can Camp too there. Lot of maggi and momos eating place..the last stretch to the top is little adventurous and rewards with some amazing views. We get to see the winter line!! The only one of two place in this world

I hiked to this spot one fine evening only to discover a lot of drug addicts, local goons, eve-teasers, hoodlums and people with all kinds of anti-social disposition having a gala time - heckling tourists, cat-calling, jeering at them, etc.
Shame on the local administration and people for allowing a place as historic and scenic as this one to degenerate to a totally unsafe one - especially for women and kids.
Unless you are in a big group, take my advice - avoid this place like the plague!
A small bit of advice for the local administration - start collecting an entry fee of Rs. 100/- per head and use the money for general upkeep of the property and, more importantly, to appoint a guard for the safety of tourists!

This is one of the oldest place of the Mussoorie to visit , this was been set up during British time and it's sir george who have fixed this for the research and other purposes
But unfortunate and shame that we don't maintain our assets and we did the sane thing here as well
The building and the place is beautiful but lots of dirt , garbage , empty bottles of wines beers and beverages lying around , the building has so many memories of lovers and others which has plenty of their stories and writting there ! Shame
We could have restored the same building properly and shown better things to the travellers and tourists and added great revenue for the close by vicinity, local people's and others
The way leads to this also need to maintained as during rains it's not even accessible and big pot holes on the roads

It is sad that this unique place with majestic views of the Doon valley and the snow capped peaks is frequented by urban dwellers who seem to be keen on: (a) play music and destroy the ambience (b) pollute the place in every possible manner (c) do everything other than enjoying the views. Hope this place could be revived and transformed into a magical sojourn for nature lovers!

Hi, how much is the cost of cab from Mussoorie Mall Road to George Everest's House? Thank you.
Written October 26, 2020
i am planning to visit mussoorie on 20,21,22november .what sort of weather it wd be? can we expect snow in or around mussoorie at that time??
Written July 20, 2017
The weather would be pleasant but no snow in or around Mussoorie. It start snowing in Dhanaulti (35 km) from Mussoorie in late December. However, it would be very cold in the morning and evening, around 5°-10°C. Days are generally pleasant and lite warm clothes are required.
Written July 20, 2017
Its great to visit Mussoorie in any season. However, you would experience rain during July. Try to stay on the mall road only. Everything is accessible from the mall. If you are staying anywhere else, you may get stuck during heavy rain.

I m staying at mall road, how should I reach to, George Everest's house?
Written August 25, 2016
There is a cab stand on the Mall Road _Liberary side where you can take a taxi with a pre-fixed rate and itenary. Also when you go to the George Everest House I do recommend you stop at Cloud's End, possibly for a lunch since they have a cover charge for entry which gets set off against meal. The trek from the Clouds End to Echo Point and Sunset points are worth the trip, while the lunch is fairly average fare.

Hi, I was planning to go on this trek. Would want to know the following:
1. Best way to reach the trek location (Lal Tibba) from Rishikesh. (Bus, cab, etc.)
2. What is the best time to finish this trek and reach George Everest.
3. Is April a good time for the trek?
TIA
Written March 26, 2016
From Rishikesh, there are buses that go till Mussorie - picture palace stand.
From there take a local cab to Lal Tibba. There are few places to stay around so that you start your trek early morning next day.
April beginning is good time, weather lot better than Dehi :-)
Start early morning and take route of camels back road and not via mussoorie mall road.
Once you reach there try climbing a small peak at George Everest.... Its steep but worth it.
Ensue to start back around 4 pm so that you reach mall road by evening and before it gets dark.
FYI- night time at that place is best but need to be in group.... No place to stay... You can camp.
