We really enjoyed this well-organized and tasty dive into Balinese cuisine!

Our driver and instructor, Wayan, picked us up at our hotel and we met up with a small group to tour the local market and sample some traditional fruits and treats. It was great to experience a market where locals shop and enjoy all of the sights, smells and tastes that the market had to offer.

From there we went to the cooking school and met up with an additional six participants and went to the upstairs kitchen to sip some iced ginger tea, water, and begin our class.

The class itself was the perfect mix of observation and doing. We prepped some ingredients, cooked several dishes at our individual stations, and assembled different parts of the meal. Wayan was a great teachers, and his assistants helped keep us all on track. It’s hard to believe we had so many dishes to sample at the end of the class, and it was fun to break bread with classmates from all over the world.

We highly recommend this class - not only was it a lot of fun, it was an incredible value!

The day was quite action packed because of the rice paddy and market visit and because we cooked so many dishes. The staff were all very kind and they have ran this class many times and are very efficient. We helped chop some food but mostly everything was already chopped and we assembled/prepared the food. We has a small group so we all got our own fry pan to cook. Afterwards, we all got to the buffet which was really delicious.

My fiance and I had a great experience. Wayan was our head instructor and he was very patient and knowledgeable about local Balinese food and cooking. His father took us initially to the market to learn more about the local ingredients - though coming from Singapore and SEAsia, we already knew most of the market items; it was still nice to walk around and get a sense of the local scene. We cooked several basic dishes, and later received the recipes. The best part is - of course - eating what you make. There were about 6 of us students in the class (with a range of background and cooking exposure). In short, I would highly recommend this lesson.

Really nice and wonderful family with amazing cooking class. We signed up quite late for an evening class, subak cooking class helped us the same day and also arranged pick-up at our hotel in Ubud.

During our travel to the market, we passed some wonderful scenery. We also had a nice walk trough the local market where they explained about the different vegitables and spices that was used in traditional balineese culinar.

After our market tour we were invited home to subak, in the outscirt of ubud, and was introduced to the local traditions and how the balineese homes where divided with different lodging and their purpose.

After that we enjoyed 2 hours cooking class and and learned the basics of balineese food culture. In total 9 dishes which we enjoyed during the end of the class.

The experience is definately something i would recommend to tourists who would like to experience home cooking and to get a glimts of how the locals are living.

5/5 and would definately recommend them to my friends

Wow! This was such a good experience - they first take you to the marketplace and a rice plantation before going to the class - Yogi was our instructor and was fantastic - talked us through all the meals we were going to make and ingredients, and then we proceeded to make every dish (with assistance of course) - I liked that it was very hands on, authentic, professionally done, affordable, and most importantly tasted delicious! Great view during lunch as well (see picture). Highly recommend!

The cooking class was professionally organised. After a trip to a local market where all the ingredients were explained and we all got a little treat from our guide, we headed for the rice fields to learn about the different crops and their use in Balinese dishes. At the cooking class every ingredient for the different dishes were already prepared so you could focus on your instructor and the cooking.
Tipp: Be sure to go for the morning class!
5 star experience!

Excellent! We were picked up from our hotel and meet with guide/ cooking instructor at the local markets where we were given a short tour looking at and discussing all the different produce. A group of 6 of us . From there our driver took us to the cooking school premises where we joined 4 other visitors and cooked several different dishes after demonstrations and instructions each time. It was great and at the end we ate the meal we had prepared. A wonderfully interesting 5 hours by the time we were returned to our accomodation. I would highly recommend !!
