i visited Pura Jagatkarsa with my friend and we had bad experiences. we came in peace and no intended to make any harm to this sacred place. but the guard treat us like we are going to make any damage. He said that he dont like people from another religion came to disrupt the activities of religious ceremonies. he showed us his pistol gun and and with his bad mouth feel not afraid to use it to people who not respect him and his religion.
so be careful if you want to go to Pura Jagatkarsa. its a holy place for hinduism and its not a tourist place.

From Bogor, we took Jalan Empang-Cikaret-Ciapus route, after around 12 KM, turned left at a smaller road, with sign PURA PARAHYANGAN AGUNG JAGATKARTTA. Cikaret-Ciapus road was in good condition, but the smaller road to the Temple was quite bumpy. So, had to drive slower from that left-turn. Parking area was wide, it could fit many vehicles, even big ones like bus.
The Temple building was in Balinese style architecture, surrounded by Salak mountain view, mild weather, mystical ...
There were guardians at the entrance. Had to let them know the purpose of visit. For a common visitors, the allowed-area was only up to the outer yard of Mandala. Like any religious site, visitors had to take off their footwears to enter. Also, had to wear a yellow-fabric-belt on our waists. Naturally, visitors had to act respectfully and wear decent clothings in visiting religious site. Temple was opened for common visitors until 4 p.m in the afternoon. After that hour, it was opened only for praying. No fee to enter the Temple.
After climbing several stairs, in the outer yard, there was Ganesha statue, with scripture: DO NOT BE AFRAID OF LIVING, AS LONG AS ONE IS LIVING ACCORDING TO THE DHARMA. A reminder to us all, to be aware all the time, to live consciously ...
For visitors who'd like to pray, could enter the Mandala area through the inner gate. The altar for praying/meditating, was facing Mount Salak. It was a very peaceful, silent ...

Parahyangan Agung Jagatkarta Temple is a Hindu Religious Site in Taman Sari Village, Ciapus Sub-district, Bogor District. It stands under Mount Salak. The weather around the site is absolutely mild. For sure, the temple is far away from hassle situation.
Before you enter to temple area, it is better for you to report your purpose of visiting - traveling or praying - to the guardians. You don't need to pay anything, but you can give some money as a voluntary fee. It doesn't matter how much do you want to give to them, it is all up to you. If you visit this temple for praying or meditation, temple guardians will guide you. If you don't, your area is only around park. For notice, this temple can exists because of hands from local and visitors.
There are many food stalls around temple area. You can hangout and enjoying the atmosphere before/after visiting the temple.
How to get here and When to go
Bogor Town is your perfect base. From here, you can pick up local transport (the blue one with number 03) that brings you to Ciapus. You can find it at Bogor Trade Mall (BTM). The journey takes 45 minutes until one hour. So, enjoy the journey!
Try to avoid Saturday, Sunday and Hindu Religious Holidays. There are many prayers to get here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the end, do not put a high expectation about this attraction, this is just a religious site. However, If you down into culture and history, Parahyangan Agung Jagatkarta Temple is a place for you. And those who love photography - especially pro -, just explore the area around the temple, you won't regret!

Once you get there, you will be missorientation of where you were at. Suddenly, balinesse lanscape will amaze you like you were there. In fact, you were at the high lanscape of bogor area. The view of the lanscape itself was mesmerizing for photography. Best moment to take a shot: from 6-9 am are the best weather since it lies right below on the humid and rainy forest of mount Salak.

this pura shd be beautiful
but non hindus are not allowed to enter the main part
instead of that, non hindus only allow a small part from the right side
so if you're non hindu and come there, then what you can do is take 1 or 2 picture
after that, that's all

I gave it a very good rating despite that it is closed for renovating. Saw it from more far away and had a good feel when i passed by the entrance.
In my opinion it will be closed for a long time. There might be a possibility to visit it after certain hours if you are really in those temples but was not clear after i talked to the security. Apparently some private visitors (bus from bali) were allowed to go, not sure if they sponsored the temple or belong to a certain specific group with relations to it.
However if you go yourself they will not let you go up to the stairs.
If this complex is on your way to Nangka waterfalls close by it might be interesting to pass the temples and drive 500 meter up. There is a place where you can have a drink, relax a bit and have good view over the surroundings. Only temple tops are visible. If you go by motorbike and are not used to indo roads the downhill might be dangerous to get back from the overview area. The road to the temples itselfs is easy (by car and motorbike).
Easy to find with google maps. Mostly one road to follow. Clear sign from the main road where you have to turn left to get to the entrance 500m-1km later.
Not much else to add. Think it could be a great place to visit when it opens, but my personal impression thinks that could be several more months and they dont seem interested to make it a tourist hotspot. Had the feeling they gives preference to keep it a secluded praying area which i can understand.

A beautiful and peaceful place for mediation and worship. The temple complexweek remind you of Bali, indeed. It is closed for tourists, but if you ask you may be allowed to enter for meditation and prayer. After your meditation it will also be OK to take pictures (not before).
The main temple is a Shivaite place, most likely similar to such places in Bali. The temples themselves are only 13 years old or so, however the energy of the place is marvelous. Behind the lower, smaller temple you week fund a path leading to a holy water place with seven fountains, just like a Tirtha place in Bali. If you are looking for a peaceful place with good energy where you can sit for mediation go there!

Yes. It's Hindu Dharma Pura in West Java. Very beautiful landscape, nice weather, fragrant incense makes this pura becomes very sanctuary place. Located in Bogor area, in Salak Mountain; this pura will give you an atmosphere like in Bali. Not all visitors can enter the pura, but you can enjoy the landscape from the jaba part.

-/+ 50/60 kilometers, my advice is to use a rented vehicle plus a driver, it's very efficient than you using a taxi or grab, one in Jakarta is called Java Private Tour, you can search for it on Google, Java Private Tour is very well known in Jakarta and Bogor, and the driver can speak english, I used his services a few months ago, to explore the highlights in Bogor, highly recommended
