I've been now twice to see Pak Dase. The first I actually met he and his wood carvers. More recently, I met his son. His craftsmanship is gorgeous, all made by hand from hardwoods. The clothing of each is beautiful and done in the traditional Javanese style.
While the village is a bit complicated to walk through, strolling along the narrow alleyways and greeting children and neighbours is, itself, such a charming experience.
Pak Dase has a range of wayang golek puppets from more antique to newer. I have purchased now three and am overjoyed.

We read about the workshop in the Tuttle City-guide to Jakarta and WOW we were not disappointed. This should be on your to-do list in Bogor! My kids hate are afraid of puppets and they really enjoyed our visit!
Pak Dase has been making these puppets by hand since 1976. each one takes him a few days or a week and he's happy to tell you the history of any piece you're interested in, as well as the folklore behind the character he's carved. Before long, he'll have several out and he'll be animating an entire story for you!
The pieces are exquisite and their prices range from 400,000 to 800,000 rph/each, depending upon the details and finish. Totally worth every cent, to see him animate the story of the characters and how he supports his family of 11 children with the proceeds.
Getting to his shop is a little dodgy... follow the road across the river, walk through the park along the river, take the pedestrian bridge across the river and ask. Someone will be happy to guide you.
Once you come across the pedestrian (rainbow colored) bridge, walk until you see a green wall on the left and a hanging cash collection box, on your right. Make a left. Keep walking (about twice as far as the 1st turn) and then turn left. It's the third of fourth house on the right, with motorbikes on the porch.

Wonderful original wayang puppets. The master is very friendly and tells you stories.
The gallery is somewhat hidden. So better to call the master. He will pick you up at the road.

Pak Dase is a wayang golek maker and his work is exceptional compared to the usual touristy souvenirs you can find in the malls.
Inside his little house in the Lebak Kantin district you will find yourself surrounded by mysterious creatures right out of the stories of Ramayana. These wooden puppets are carved from hardwood and sometimes you arrive when men are in the middle of carving faces and body parts and later painting them.
I love how you are greeted in his own house, feeling like you're not just a visitor but also his guest. He is very friendly and is willing to tell stories of each characters with his broken but quite fluent English.
You are welcome to buy the ones on display or have one made to your specifications. I myself bought two unfinished, unpainted heads (Jatayu and Hanuman).
Pak Dase is very well-known in his neighborhood so you can ask for him and friendly faces will lead you to his house.
