Well if you want to know or want to see with a curiosity how big a submarine existed then you can go to Monkasel, good enough for your kids to learn about History, it came from the liberty era (Soekarno's) when Indonesia had a very closed connection with Russia. And when I'm finished visiting this monkasel , I just... O... More

Display of a real submarine. Belonged to Indonesia Navy. Its a Soviet build sub ( perhaps a K-class) diesel electric. Usually flocked by local study tour and family. Located next to the river (Kalimas) which run through the city. A small mall is located aside. Big parking space. McD, KFC and other foods is inside the mall. 1 backpack hotel,... More

There is nothing much to do in Surabaya and this ia a good place to visit. The inside of the submarine is air-conditioned. So you don't have to worry about being hot. You may need to do a lot of bowing to get through the door. You probably can get all done by half an hour. Short and interesting!

The interior of the submarine is full of gauges, pipes and wire, really complicated piece of machinery. Russian made and look very sturdy. Worth taking some time to crawl through its belly if u have not seen the inside of a submarine before.

It was educational, informative and entertaining. Looking at the writings inside the submarine, most likely it was a Russian-made submarine. All the rooms were air-conned. No need to worry about being hot inside the submarine when visiting at midday. There was a kiddy swimming pool behind the submarine, and a few vendors were selling snacks and drinks. Next to the... My father used to be a Navy. Now he's retired. This is why we so excited to come and see the Monkasel. Monumen Kapal Selam, Indonesian word for Submarine Monument. This is exactly a real submarine wishkey class from russia/U.S.S.R made during 50's. Served into Indonesia Navy as KRI Pasoepati with #410 number on its hatch. Wow, it's amazing to... More
