What a gorgeous mosque. We were able to wander freely after covering a bit. Well maintained and the colours were beautiful

Its the big mosque in medan. Its nearby the Maimun Palace, just walk less than10 minutes. When we were there, its the time of praying so that we dint go in the place. But from the front, we can feel that when there is a big Islam Festival. The mosque will be very nice moment. Medan composed of 90% muslim,... More

This mosque is very historical. Some security stays in the main gate. You need to dress well to enter the gate. The ornament inside the mosque is good. I came in the late afternoon and inside the mosque is dark. Maybe if the lamp was turned on, the ornament could be seen better. This mosque really needs a refreshment. Some... More

We like the place very much. The staffs are very friendly and kind. Most of Medan young lady enjoy taking the photos here. In the back of the area are the cemetery. Any person approach you to show you the cemetery, just say "no". The last sultan laid down here. By donation.

I actually came to this neighborhood to get to "Blue Angel" Guesthouse for my transportation to Bukit Lawang. This neighborhood is as busy as most other inner-city neighborhoods in Medan. However, the Grand Mosque and its surrounding garden across the street stand out as an urban oasis in Medan. I did not get into the Mosque (since I am not... More

We visited the grand mosque (only from outside). Was extremely beautiful and easy to walk to from where we were staying at the JW Marriott. We were approached by many students standing outside wanting to ask us questions to assist in improving their english. Definitely worth a visit if in Medan

The mosque it quite big. The design is typical malay deli style, with nice ceiling and some historical story behind this mosque. I recomended not to visit on friday noon and after 5.30pm, as the moslem is doing their praying. Worth to visit.

An English-speaking guide at the mosque showed us around and gave us a ton of information on Indonesia, Medan and the practice of Islam. Beautiful site to see, but much more meaningful with this guide's help.
