We went in the middle of the week hence there were less people (around 50 - 60) at the top for the sunrise. However, it doesn't feel crowded. You can easily find a spot to take a picture. The top is 30 minutes from the...More

Mount Kelimutu and its three coloured lakes are well worth the trip through Flores. We hired a car and driver for the day and with his advice, opted to ascend Kelimutu at 4:30 am to see the sunrise. Unfortunately we were rewarded with thick cloud...More

This is certainly the most interesting tourist attraction in Flores island beside the Komodo dragons. Come early as the mist rolls in afterwards. Make a decent offering to Bobi and Konderatu, the guardian spirits believed to inhabit the lake's area to assure a good view...More

Absolute must see when in Indonesia. Most stunning views on the color lakes. We went during the day as it was raining at sunrise, and have great pictures with the sun and some clouds moving over the water of the lakes. Beware of the monkeys.

Nice trekking. Dont come here when it's rainy season, because you might not be able to witness the glorious sunrise. It should have been one of the 7 wonders in the world!

These lakes are best observed as the sun comes up. The trek in is on made path and relatively easy walking.. The last section to the summit is quite steep. Take a wind jacket as the summit can be cool in the morning. Hot drinks...More

It's always wonderful to see nature beauty. And that's include Kelimutu. The only thing I didn't enjoy was I have to woke up very early in the morning.

Would be tight, you must have a driver ready and leave from there around 8:30 at the latest, the sunrise is around 5am, so doable. Often landslides on the way to Ende so check right before you go as that can easily add... More
