We decided to try for a day time visit instead of the standard dawn one! Visual observation that it wasn't too clowdy and off we went! We were rewarded by no crowds and perfect views. Definitely something to consider as an option.

It was not too crowded when we went there. We got to park at the closest parking as possible. Got some coffee and snack used the bathroom at the parking lot since our guide Ito Pance from ayokomodo.com, told us there was no bathroom along...More

It's a long way to go if that's all you are going for. The lakes are nice enough and it was great that there were NO tourists when we went.

You may need to go twice to see the Crater. The mist can come down the mountain at a seconds notice. 10am we didnt see anything. Again at 3pm it was fantastic. It worth the climb up to the top - the views are amazing.

We went in the middle of the week hence there were less people (around 50 - 60) at the top for the sunrise. However, it doesn't feel crowded. You can easily find a spot to take a picture. The top is 30 minutes from the...More

Mount Kelimutu and its three coloured lakes are well worth the trip through Flores. We hired a car and driver for the day and with his advice, opted to ascend Kelimutu at 4:30 am to see the sunrise. Unfortunately we were rewarded with thick cloud...More

This is certainly the most interesting tourist attraction in Flores island beside the Komodo dragons. Come early as the mist rolls in afterwards. Make a decent offering to Bobi and Konderatu, the guardian spirits believed to inhabit the lake's area to assure a good view...More

Absolute must see when in Indonesia. Most stunning views on the color lakes. We went during the day as it was raining at sunrise, and have great pictures with the sun and some clouds moving over the water of the lakes. Beware of the monkeys.

Everybody do the sunrise climb But between 9 and 10 sun is just perfect in height, quality of light and direction So if the weather is awful at 4 in the morning then go back to sleep, take a breakfast and go up to Kelimuntu...More

Would be tight, you must have a driver ready and leave from there around 8:30 at the latest, the sunrise is around 5am, so doable. Often landslides on the way to Ende so check right before you go as that can easily add... More
