This is one of my favourite sites in Israel . History meets beauty! Crusader ruins in a beautiful park overlooking the Mediterranean. I go with my entire family including grandchildren every birthday for a picnic. Love it so much !

Excellent excavations with understandable information plaques and well marked paths in the heart of Herzliya. Wear good walking shoes or hiking boots. There is water available, but bring drinking water with you.

Definitely worth your time.
Not only for the historical significance and archeological findings, but also to enjoy the view, the wind and the breathtaking sunsets when the closing time allow it.
I recommend avoiding visiting it during the vacation and hagim (Israeli religious feasts) as the site is quite crowded.

Easy to navigate, with a handicap friendly path. We went off-season, so park was mostly empty. Beautiful view of the ocean, a pithy podcast about the site (in hebrew). Park is clean and well maintained.
Park isn't that big, and there could be better shade over the outlooks. But we had a nice, quiet, great time and enjoyed the view.
Plenty of picnic tables with water faucets and covered bins.

I thought this was a bit of a hidden gem, it's on the coast near Herzliya and they have the ruins of an old crusader castle that are pretty good.

This is one of our family favorites. Stroller accessible. Good for a couple of hours with the kids. Beautiful setting with crusader ruins on cliffs above the Mediterranean. Like a mini-Caesaria in a sense, close to Tel Aviv, ancient ruins on the sea.

On the way from Tel-Aviv to the north we has couple of hours, thus we chose to visit the site. The archeological park includes several periods starting with Phoenicians n the late sixth century BCE, Hellenistic, Roman Byzantine and the Crusader period. The placed is stretched along the Mediterranean coast with several stunning outlooks. The paths allows easy walk around.

It's on a cliff, nice walk around the archaelogical site, very easy and accesible. There is a podcast in hebrew you can scan the barcode and listen while you walk around
Best visit around sunset time (if it's still open)
On the low side: it is in need of some refreshing the grounds and re-painting some of the informative signs

What would be the best/cheapest way to get here from Haifa? I would not be traveling on a Saturday.

Take a local bus from Haifa towards Tel Aviv. Ask the driver to leave you off at Kfar Shmaryahu (Rabin Interchange). From there you can take a cab or there may be a bus (I don't have the details).
Go right on Keren Hayesod St. to Wingate St. Turn right, keep going. Street changes name along the way.
Distance about 4 km.
Hope this helps.
