Very impressive to see the enormous difference between the ornamental decorated Church and the simple , intimate and functional Sinagogue .

Like Mary's Well, this site enables you to easily imagine Nazareth at the time of Christ. Interesting AND humbling to be there. Recommended for all biblically-inclined tourists.

The synagogue is small and a kind of intimate. It is from the age of Jesus that give us the privilege to sit on the same place, walk on the same stairs. The right place where He announced his ministry first.
The congregation keep it open freely and they deserve a donation.
The man there lighted up the altar candles and incences for our tour group when we read the Bible and sung there.

This crusader era church is believed to have been built over the site of the synagogue that Jesus would have attended as a child. It is a beautiful and very spiritual place. If able to attend a Mass here, I highly recommend it. It sits at the end of the alley next to the more modern church.

The pinnacle of the experience here was when our priest was handed a scroll and read the same text fro Isaiah that Jesus read on this very spot.

It was a miraculous feeling while entering this small church in the village of Nazareth where Jesus was studying, praying and preaching during his childhood years. The word,:SYNAGOGUE" was embedded above the entrance door. Architecture was unique wth the flooring being below ground level and arched roof decorated with brick like tiles. Benches were provided against the wall for seating. Chairs were additions .An Altar and a podium indicated that services were conducted regularly. An elderly Franciscan priest interacted with us..

A walk through small lanes with many shops on either side and plenty of shadowy trees along the pavement was refreshing after a late meal, to reach the Synagogue. Our tired legs drew immediate strength when our guide prompted us by asking , " Don't you want to walk where Jesus walked ?" Yes, we wanted.

An easy walk from the Church of the Annunciation and worth a stop. It is said to have been the Synagogue that Jesus would have visited when he lived in Nazareth. To the side of the church is a downstairs chapel that has a cave like appearance with stones all around the walls and ceilings.

I was amazed by this building and it's architecture. During the warm summer days, the temperature inside is 10C less than outside.
