It took us a while to get there since we took public transportation, which is an experience by itself. We walked up the hill which was tough (easier if you rent a car).. the place is worth the visit though. There's a lot of history and the lady who owns the plans has turned part of her home into a... I spent a few hours with my family having a really good lunch at the restaurant followed by a walk around the spice gardens which was a surprising treat which we all loved ( 8 year old in tow). A little trouble finding the right turning for the gardens but glad we did and would highly recommend a visit. The... More

We were taken to this restaurant by my in laws who are currently working in the Seychelles. It is up quite a precarious hill (first gear only!) but well worth the drive. The views are stunning and the breeze wonderful. We ate at the restaurant and had delicious home made Creole food - try the Job fish in ginger sauce... More

A hidden treasure of The Seychelles (if you pass the graveyard, you are on the right road). Stunning views, vast array of flora & fauna, and, at 125 Ruppees, it was amazing value for money. Would recommend to anyone, just don't forget your camera.

Hidden away in the beautiful hills of Mahe Island, lies a picturesque spice garden, restaurant, gift shop and museum. As you wander through the spice gardens be sure to take in the wild and exotic scents, meet the giant ancient tortoises and take lots of photos of the unique native plants. You'll be hungry after your garden walk, make sure... More

After exploring Mahé island, we stopped at Jardin du Roi for a late lunch. The trip up there is half an experience in itself, due to the narrow mountain road! Once there, we were sat in the restaurant, overlooking the jungle. It was so peaceful and idyllic - lovely. The food itself is nothing to scoff at either. Between the... More

If you do nothing else on Mahe, go for lunch at this really rare, completely Creole restaurant. The food is served meze style with lots of dishes freshly cooked. Most of the ingredients are sourced from their own garden and any others are locally sourced also. This is evident in the taste. The wonderful thing is that you are definitely... More

The gardens are quite difficult to find as the signs from the main(ish) road stop and unless you have asked for directions you will miss the little turn off. The drive up is then quite steep and narrow. you are rewarded on arrival with a a garden full of different spice and fruit trees. The trees are all labelled for... More

The garden is beautiful and well kept. If you have time experience the long trails into the jungle. Be prepaired, though, it is going to be a 1-hour walk and it is not very easy going. Have a look at the giant turtles and try the restaurant, which is a tad expensive, although really good (do not forget to try... More
