This museum is huge, and I was really on overload while there. I highly recommend visiting and taking your kids. There are many things they will enjoy. Just know that it will take more than a couple of hours, and if you read everything, it will take a lot longer. Admission is free. Parking can be challenging. The museum is... More

Whether you're a single adult, a family, or entire classroom, you'll love your visit to the NYS Museum. There's so much to see. The Adirondack exhibit is my favorite...and oh yeah, don't miss the mastadon in the Ice Age exhibit.

Went to see the exhibit on hudson valley ruins. Very interesting. I used to like the thunderstorm / blowdown chamber.

My husband and I visited this museum while we were in Albany for a wedding. I did not have high expectations for this museum and was very pleasantly surprised. I really loved the exhibit "Hudson Valley Ruins" which featured photographs of run down buildings along the Hudson River. There was a caption under each photograph delving into the culture, architecture,... More

The displays at the Albany Museum are quite impressive. The 9-11 memorial is moving, the geological displays are beautiful and I love the local art on display. Definitely a great place to go on a rainy day, or any day!

Four stars only because it can be difficult to find parking, especially if you are unfamiliar with the downtown Albany area or the Empire State Plaza. Unless you get really lucky, be prepared for a long walk, especially on weekends. But the museum itself is top notch. You can't beat free admission. The 9/11 exhibit is very moving. The subway... A friend visiting from Virginia. Her first time in NY so we decided to take her to NYSM. We had a blast. The exhibits are awesome. We took our time and strolled from place to place and ended up there for over three hours. Was not crowded as it's Sunday and got to really take our time and enjoy ourselves.... More
