We were originally going to do this as an overnight stay, but right before we came the town had an earthquake and we just decided to do it as a day trip from Busan instead. I'm actually glad we just did a day trip here,...More

My wife, daughter and I visited Gyeongju in March 2017. We were disappointed. The highlight, for us, was the National Museum but even this was easily eclipsed by the National Museum in Seoul. As for the rest of the historic area, there is little really...More

The temples and historical sites looks even more beautiful with the colour of red and yellow gingko leave in autumn, very photogenic with a sense of serenity. Totally worth the visit. Easy to go from Busan by train, ideal for a day trip.

On a 12 day trip to South Korea we tried to get a sample of rural, historical and urban experiences. Decided on a couple of days in Gyeongju for the historical, rural aspect. We misjudged this part of our trip. We spent 2 nights here...More

The amount of old buildings and monuments in such a small area is just impressive. It is very well kept and gardened. Koreans can be proud of this area.

Everything in Korea is so modern or reconstructed that at last there is an opportunity to get a feel for Korean history. When we visited it was uncrowded and easy to tour ( with a car and guide).

Gyeongju is well worth a couple of days if you are traveling Korea. The museum gives you a great history lesson in the Silla period. The Tombs were idyllic to walk through. There is a particular kind of bread that is very famously made here...More

We took a fast train from Busan to Gyeongju for a day trip. It was interesting to see the mounds of little hills and the observatory. The area around the observatory was really pretty. We decided to try out a famous traditional restaurant for lunch...More

Beautiful ancient temple area high on the mountain. Steep uphill climb but well worth the effort. Lots of local tourists visited the day we were there
