Welcome to Sea Turtle Hatchery - Mahamodara. We rescue turtles who are in danger of loosing their lives to the fishing industry whether they are caught in nets or hunted for meat. We currently have 40 turtles, including 4 types of turtle. All are welcome to come and visit to see and learn about Tara turtles here in Sri Lanka.

Highly recommend, it’s small one but family really taking care about turtles 🐢 It’s easy to get there with tuk tuk or bike from Galle, very close. The guy showed me around and told about turtles and what they do for them

1000 lkr per person and you can also make a donation (we gave an extra 500 for 2 which seemed fair). The owner has a tuktuk and can help you with transport.

We have just returned and we're able to after 6pm. I think you need to ask and expect to pay per turtle that's release
