We walked around the town enjoying the view of the Mekong River and visiting the various shops and stalls. The temple is under renovation and that was interesting to see. The people are friendly, and it was relaxing to have a good Chai tea and...More

Love this place of staying for a few days. We rode the bus from Chiang rai to Chiang Sean for 35 baht. Walked to our @DeWiangrat hostel. No receptionist. Had to ask lady who work next door in the pharmacy. I think she take cares...More

Try not to miss this area it is steeped in history and well worth a look. The grounds are full of scattered part buildings that stretch back for hundreds of years.

There are things to do and see in Chiang Saen, but you have to hunt them down. Take a Long Tail boat over to Lao Island and visit a fairly tacky market selling things that you can buy in Thailand. Some love it, some hate...More

Chiang Saen, moreover known as the Golden Triangle, is the three country point (Myanmar - Laos - Thailand). This area, including the (old) city Chiang Saen is worth your visit. Take your time to enjoy the stunning views and the ancient area of Chiang Saen.
