A must see for all visitors to the province. Lots to see and do for at least 5 days. Easy to get around and there are prices to suit most budgets

The bridge is nice. It's a nice piece of history, that is still very much functional today, if you're lucky(or check the train schedules) you can see trains pass by. I suggest going to the museum next to memorial to have more back story on...More

A great trip out to the River from Bangkok Thornuri Station. Dress for the heat in the summer. Take cash for drinks on the train.

it is good to take some minutes and to thinkl about what happened there. what really happened. not what the film shows. one can walk to the other side and furhtr along the rils. the farther away the quieter.

This is the infamous bridge immortalized in the movie "The Bridge on the River Kwai". The present day bridge was rebuilt as part of Japanese reparations. Definitely a tourist attraction so visit early in the morning.

Strongly recommend taking sunset boat tour (sapan ride) along River Kwai, which is around 2-3 hours. It will stop at various spots for POW cemetery, museum and temples visiting which is way faster travelling by car. We booked our boat tour with our hotel -...More

went here with Destination Asia and travelled in a private car with English speaking guide. The scenery around this area is fantastic. A solemn visit to the war graves and museum. A trip on the train made this a day well spent. Would highly recommend...More

The short answer is yes you can go without a guide. The railway bridge itself is free to go to and there are a lot of stalls in the area for you to see and get some tourist items. The train ride itself can cost $3 baht... More

It's a great train journey from Bangkok, you catch the train from Thonburi train station which from central Bangkok can take about 45 minutes by taxi. The train journey takes roughly 2 1/2 hours.

Not likely! Call your hotel and give them your arrival mode and ETA and ask they send a taxi!
