Wow this place is stunning, serene, clean, and certainly did not disappoint especially the stunningly beautiful sunsets.

Visited as part of an organised tour. Included a long tailed boat ride and railway journey. Small market at the station. Story is heart wrenching. Small museum is interesting

Great day trip from Bangkok. It's the only river I have seen in Asia that is actually blue. Travel on a bamboo raft on the river.

The view here is nice and was cooling to walk as it rained before we came. Taking photos and walk on the bridge was a great experience.

Interesting to get a first hand look at a part of history and what the soldiers had to endure. Nice view of the River Kwae.

The river Kawi runs through this region and you’ll have lots of opportunity to see it. In fact your hotel may be right on the river! Look for one that is.

The short answer is yes you can go without a guide. The railway bridge itself is free to go to and there are a lot of stalls in the area for you to see and get some tourist items. The train ride itself can cost $3 baht... More

It's a great train journey from Bangkok, you catch the train from Thonburi train station which from central Bangkok can take about 45 minutes by taxi. The train journey takes roughly 2 1/2 hours.
