Heartbreaking to see the result of Japanese war crimes exposed by these sacrificed heroes of World War 2. Combined with the Death Museum next door this is eye opening.

Chungkai War Cemetery, Location: 14.00603 N, 99.51507 E, just outside the town of Kanchanaburi. Chungkai War Cemetery is approximately 5 kilometres west of Kanchanaburi and can be reached by road over the narrow Sudjai Bridge, or by carefully timing the rail schedule. The war cemetery...More

We visited this cemetary as a family member is buried here to visit the grave. The cemetery itself is beautifully kept and looked after and the respect shown to these POW graves is incredible. Reading some of the graves and seeing how young some of...More

We stayed at a place right next to this cemetery which is well kept and offers good information. Unfortunately the noise from the party boats is very loud.

This cemetery is the smaller counterpart to the better known one in downtown Kanchanaburi. It is the site of the hospital for the POWs and so the graves are mainly of those who died in that hospital. It is accessible by boat from the Bridge...More

This cemetary is not as much on the tourist trail as the main Kanchanaburi one. It's smaller, located next to the river (we visited by boat - a recommended trip), and beautifully kept. It was extremely moving, and a fitting final resting place for the...More

This cemetery is located on a previous POW hospital site. Most of the graves belong to Dutch and British soldiers. It is very well maintained and located a little out of town. Well worth a visit.
