Market is moved to a new location which is near the city hall.
Probably the lake is under maintenance. The new location might be only temporary.
As far as i know, i will be a new location until mid 2022 at least.
Better check again when you arrive.

Mae Hong Son Walking Street Night Market runs along the road bordering Mae Hong Son Park and Mae Hong Son Lake.
Each evening stall holders set up along the street selling a wide range of arts and crafts, including Karen hand made and hand dyed fabrics, sarongs and scarves, and Lisu hill tribe handmade purses and bags.
There are many food stalls, mainly selling barbecued fish, chicken or pork, and some selling traditional barbecued corn and sweet potatoes, and Thai deserts. The night we visited many Thai families were sitting on straw mats at the lakeside enjoying their dinner.
We joined in and bought a salt crusted "tab tin" fish (tilpia), a barbecued catfish, some pork satays, and some barbecued chicken wings. It was all delicious and was super cheap - 350 baht the lot.
There are beautiful views across the lake at nighttime when Wat Chong Klang is lit up and reflects across the lake.

We stayed in Mae Hong Son for 2 days/one night.
Stayed at the Ngamta Hotel, so easy walking distance to the local Wat followed by a pretty good street market.
The highlight of the walking street market is the quantity and quality of the food.
Very popular with the locals, virtually no seating so it's do as the locals do, sit in the lotus position. Food seems to arrive from several stalls, exactly what you ordered and could not be more freshly cooked.
Of all the places we have eaten throughout Thailand, this has to come out on top.
Highly recommended.

For people who know Pattaya, do not worry, walking streets in other cities are dedicated to food and souvenirs!
I really liked walking around the market and trying all kinds of small thai food items (grilled bananas, grilled meat, coconut pancakes, shakes, juices, fruits, fresh bread, Chinese buns, noodles etc...). I bought few souvenirs as well (material pockets, t-shirt, magnets, bookmarks, postcards...). Don't forget to stop at the temple close to the lake too, it looks good by night and it stays open (Burmese style temple).
Be careful, everything closes between 9 pm and 10 pm depending on the number of customers and the inventory. I couldn't try special yunnan noodles because of this...

I must have visited the market every evening I was in Mae Hong Son. Super selection of freshly cooked food and you can sit by the lake as you eat it. Lots of local crafts and goods too. Doesn't have a touristy feel as most of the people there are Thai. Highly recommended

Thailand is full of "walking streets" and Night markets. Some of them bustling, some more annoying than entertaining. Some full of cheap souvenirs and "bling-bling", others are true gems, full of indigenous handicraft and goods for day-to-day life in countryside Thailand - and, of course, tons of fantastic, local food at no price at all.
If you like the latter - go to Mae Hong Son and visit the Night Market. It's worth the trip!

A really nice market with a beautiful setting next to the lake and great atmosphere. It is like most other markets with food stalls (really cheap and great food!) and souvenirs. But most items are hand made and quite unique. A great experience when you are in Mae Hong Son.

Just another market with foods and souvenirs. Only the location is great between the lake and the temple. It opens around 1700 untill 2130.

Stalls are alongside lake Chong Kham from Pradit Chong Kham Alley towards Wat Chong Klang.
While enjoying hawker food of your choice, very beautiful night scene at the lake facing Wat Chong Klang will be the Bonus visiting Night Market.

Very nice night market to walk around. Best to avoid the public toilets, though. In the end we should’ve eaten here instead of Baan Fern, which was very disappointing.
