The Boldt Castle is a "must see"; the Boldt boathouse across the river is OK, but not a "must see"

We started on Wellesly Island at the Boldt Boathouse. It was very interesting and worth a 20 minute visit, but not a "must see". The ferry wasn't running from the boathouse to Heart Island and the Castle due to high winds. We waited for a...More

Heart Island is beautiful, as is Boldt Castle. The grounds are magnificent and well maintained. The castle has had so much work since our 1st visit 30 years ago. We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent here.

A beautiful renovated castle brought back to life by the Thousand Island Bridge Authority. There are shuttles from Alexandria Bay on the hour. Weddings are performed there.

Heart Island was once the idea of a man building a home for his wife, and now is being restored. The area is home to about 70 weddings each year/

Loved heart island and the story behind the castle that was built there by George Boldt for his loving wife, who died before it was completed. It's worth the trip!

Came to Boldt Castle as a young kid in the 70s and what a difference! Just beautiful renovations. Love that there is an elevator as I was traveling with an older parent. Only issue was the crowd at times ...this place draws a big crowd!

Heart Island and the Boldt Castle are not to be missed. Located just across from Alexandria Bay, it is easily accessible by boat. The history of the island and the castle is fascinating. Be sure and visit if you are in the area.

I don't know that there is much open down by the water in Alexandria Bay early in the morning. I imagine there might be even fewer options in September. It might be better to pack a lunch the night before.
