Taking time to spend on the river, especially a guided tour, is well worth your time. You will get an up close and personal look at some of the interesting history the area has to offer. The sights are wonderful. There are many shops to...More

Abay is a great little village and keeps getting better. All kinds of shops, restaurants, places for kids (beach, playground), and night life. Adults need to visit the Dark Island Distillery.

Took tour of Thousand Islands and St Lawrence River and found it to be worthwhile to understand the history of the area. Was fun to go across to the Canadian side and view the bridges across the islands from the USA to Canada.

Friendly town, used to tourists which is nice since they receive their business from travelers. Easy and safe to walk around.

We took the Uncle Sam's boat tour...2-1/4 hours....from Alexandria Bay. It was the two countries, cost $23 pp/adult. Free parking. No need to purchase tix ahead of time. Lovely way to spend the day. We were able to get off at Boldt Castle and pay...More

You will learn alot about the history of the area by taking the tour. The mansions you will see are beautiful. We went on an overcast day, during the summer. If tne sun had been out, it would have been too hot.

This place is magical and has serene beauty hidden in the 1864+ islands. This was my second trip to 1000 Islands and its truly a refreshing place. Must visit after Niagara falls to end your trip.

A boat tour is a must in this area if you do not own your own boat. Very relaxing and beautiful area with Boldt Castle being the main attraction.

Best bet is probably Syracuse. There is a small airport at Watertown but the car rental options, flights to and from, will be better at Syracuse.
